Decided to keep the 1758 for a 12 and sell this one. Bought it cheap and was very happy to see it is in absolute mint condition. NO marks, dings, dents, scratches what so ever. Restrung with Elixir 10's and sweet. Very nice brown case with it. Not looking to make a profit on it, so I'm pricing it at 500.00 shipped conn US which is right at what I have in it with the original price, strings, and shipping in and out. Anyone looking for a Pacemaker can't do better than this one IMHO.

TJ, you're killing me. Winter is coming on, the heating bills are going to be high, I spent FAR too much money on guitars this past summer, and I CAN'T afford this right now. But I WANT it!

AARGH!!!! :(

Yep, there may come a time really soon where you see me posting messages asking for cans of soup. Come to think of it, those packages of Ramen noodles will cost next to nothing to ship. Ah, that's OK, I needed to lose some weight anyway. :D

wow.... you just missed an absolute stunner!
I'll continue to keep an eye out for a nice mid or ssb for you though.... maybe we'll be able to find you an 1885 as I suggested.

Great Price Jim! Good man!

Congratulations Alison! It's a portable Orchestra!

Iffy, I haven't played a Pacemaker in YEARS. But like Glenn said, I remember that they really do sound like a "portable orchestra", and for some reason, they are easier to fingerpick than most 12 strings. I am SO looking forward to this! Thanks to all for their good wishes, appologies to those who missed out on this, and a BIG thank you to Trader Jim - MY go-to guy for great deals on great guitars!

I picked up my first Pacemaker ('79) not too long ago. Mine's nowhere near as pretty as that one, and acoustic-only, but it is my idea of the PERFECT acoustic 12 string. The tone and volume are just spectacular!

Mine apparently had a rough life, but after a fret-dressing, a little precautionary glue/sanding on two long finish cracks that were running parallel to the grain, it's awesome!

I now own a good example of the philosophy that "finish-cracks can be beautiful", it's got lots of small ones in every direction, it even has a small dent in the bowl, it might have been dropped, I don't know, I don't really care. Those cosmetic things kept the price low, yet the neck is perfect, and it plays smooth 'n' easy. And did I mention it sounds like a choir of angels singing really LOUD?

You will love playing a Pacemaker again, Alison. You did the right thing. Food's over-rated; you just eat it today and it's gone tomorrow anyway. The Pacemaker will be there to feed your creativity for a long time. Just let us know where to send the soup. ;)

Yeah, that's what I figured. And I can always break up some furniture to burn if I get cold this winter. Come to think of it, I could move in here to the shop this winter so I don't have to heat two places. And if the soup doesn't arrive in time, I can always throw the cat into the crock pot...

Here's a tip to get past those expensive heating bills so you can afford more guitars...get the hell out of South Dakota!

This is the kind of guitar that if you run out of furniture to burn in the winter, you can sell this guitar in 5 minutes. And you can start sending me an IM. I'm a sucker for a good 12 string...and this looks like a beauty.

Congrats on your new purchase. Remember, if you stay in South Dakota, we can work out a deal where I send you heating oil in exchange for the guitar.

Jim

To be honest, Stellar, our winters in Hot Springs are MUCH milder than yours in Ohio. Hot Springs is in a mountain valley, and most of the bad weather goes around us. Plus we have a lot of hot water under the ground, so when we do get snow, it melts pretty quickly. In my five winters so far, we only had one big storm - two feet fell on a Sunday. By Tuesday it was gone. Other than that, the biggest snow event netted us about six inches. Very often during the day, even in January and February, it gets up into the 50's and 60's. I've even seen it get into the low 70's. (But it goes down to the 20's at night.) My problem is heating the shop (propane) and the house (oil). Well, that, and I like to complain a lot... :D

Ali, if this one plays like mine, you won't have a problem selling the other one you have. It's lighter, the neck will (hopefully) feel smaller like mine does, and you won't even miss the two extra frets...and it really does sound like an orchestra. (And I'd be glad to send you the case of Ramen noodles........)

Congrats and enjoy! That guitar was beautiful.

I do have a question though and I see it on this list and others. How in the world does a guitar like this (or so many awesome pieces wee continually see) stay in like new condition for that many years. Do folks just store them away and never play them? Hell, I can't take one from the case to my lap without it looking used...

I got this one from Geneo and I believe he bought it from a local collector that just bought them new and stored them away. This one looks as though it's never been played, or even touched before. Even the case is in like new condition.

Which brings me to this, does anyone know if there was a "9158" series case in the brown variety? This case seems much heavier, better built, with heavy duty latches than any other brown case I've come across.

Yeah, I know, but in the BROWN cases, are there two quality designations like the 8158 and the 9158 in the black cases?

I have noticed the difference in the older brown cases also... stamped hasps on latches vs. solid hasps, lighter grade valances on some, and the vacuum molded tops/outer shells.. some are more brittle, thinner, and lighter colored... but the company has been around for a while.. different suppliers, contractors etc.. so doesn't surprise me.

I have had many brown cases, but I have none right now.
I had a 1312-4 Ultra that came in a brown case.
This brown case was lighter than the brown cases that I had for my 1115, 1121, 1621 and 1627.
It seemed to have been made outta flimsier plastic. Lighter colored too.
Kinda like the difference between an 8158 and a 9158.
It did have silver Ovation letters on it, but they were different than the others.
And the feet on the 1312 case were molded bumps, as opposed to the metal balls.

Just thinking out loud...

I think there are at least 3-4 different incarnations of the puppy poo cases.

I've seen a few different "puppy poo" (I like that!) cases. The reason I asked is the one that came with this guitar is a lot heavier duty than any others I've seen.
