Joined: June 2009 Posts: 67 Location: in the land of enchantment | Hello All...I'm putting my Adamas 1885-NB2 up for sale. I bought this guitar for an incredible musician in the 90's...it was his favorite O/A...he only had it a year before he passed away. It's in very good shape, but it does have some scratches on the back of the neck...I don't know what from, but will assume a capo..other than that it's beautiful..I took the strings off (they were only 12 years old) but will include a set of EXP38's. I've had it plugged in, and the preamp works just fine. I've got lots of pics, and have tried my best to point out any flaws on the guitar and case. It will only be offered here, it will never go to Ebay, as I would like someone who is as passionate about Adamas/Ovation as Lucas was. I'm asking $1500 + shipping. Here's where all the pictures are: ning And here are a few images to whet your wistle: Any questions, I'll try to answer.. Thanks for looking.

TAFKAR mentioned the slight downside.....but if you are looking for a red 1881 this wouldn't be a bad way to go....and it could always be converted back and sold if in the future you found a true 6.Originally posted by stephent28: Forgive my ignorance, are you kidding or being serious? Putting 6 strings on a 12 string guitar is not uncommon. (That's probably because I really love 12'ers, and overall there are less of them around, so I personally don't like to see 12-strings not living up to their full potential…) … just my 2¢…

I had one in the late 90's and it worked well for the praise band I was in at the time...they came in several colors: black and red and even a teal. Solid colors not bursts and they are fairly uncommon. TnT has a black one like the one I used to have and it is one of his favorite guitars. Also I remember Al saying these are one of his favorite's as well. I reluctantly passed on this (thanks Rene' for the chance). Someone will have a great 12 string Adamas for a very fair price.

Reference to the reissue is that 'red' was not considered for the primary run of the 1687 reissues. I have to believe the -2 was at the end of the reissue run and considered a special order. In fact, when the 47RI came out, there were comments of why red...of course, we found out that Charle's favorite slothead was no. 47 which is red. The reissue was the 30th Anniv. of Adamas. In my case, the red grows on you...
