I have an Elite Model 1547 S/N313099 that I am considering selling. I've had it since the early 80's, acquired it brand new and it has been played very little. I would say it is excellent to mint condition.

I am seriously considering selling this guitar but am having a hard time determining it's value.
Can anyone give me an idea of a fair price to ask for this guitar

And yes it is a 1547 cutaway

Prices are depressed right now, but I'd search the archives For Sale section for 1547 and you'll find a few that sold here. That might get you into a ballpark.

These are wonderful guitars. Couple of years ago at Amelia Island I had somebody toss me his from his garage so I could play it for the week I was there. All the mojo of my own 1537 but w/ the cutaway (for those 2 notes I know up high).

Good luck with the sale and good luck to who ever wants to buy it....

"(for those 2 notes I know up high)..."

...wrong and wronger?

Welcome, G. Make yourself at home, do some searching and then decide if that's really what you want to do.

If so, tree-fiddyone...

These are pretty rare and very sought after. All the buzz of a 1537 and then some. Yes the economy sucks right now, but it's a $1500. guitar in a heartbeat.

I lucked out a year or two ago and picked up a 1547 proto in an SSB configuration from a kind member here. With an aged top, these are excellent guitars.

Only $1500, Dave? Well, then... I think, I have to wait with the sale of my 1547. And yes, it's the better sounding sunburst.

So, one less in the market. Should make GCates' guitar a little bit more worthy.

Best regards,
Kurt

I wasn't going to name a price, but Toby's right. And what makes it more interesting is that it's a guitar that slices and dices with other brands twice that much money....

Agreed....with today's market $1500 is a good price for both buyer and seller.

I had already e-mailed the seller, prior to the joking around above, and let him know that in today's depressed market at auction it would probably sell for between 1 and 2 thousand.

and that 3-4 years ago.... probably higher by another 1/3 at least.

waiting to find out if it's a -4 or -1..not that I can afford it by any means.. but just another rare one in the wild I'd like to see.

hope he can get his best price, and make a member here happy at the same time.

Regards,

Glenn

I am working on posting pictures but as yet haven't figured out how to. I am not too good with the URL thing so please bear with me.

An additional note - there are no modifications or repairs that have been done.

Thank you for your interest

As I previously suggested, the aged tops are special.
