The guitar looks like new apart from a coule of tiny nicks the guitar hasn't been used hardly and is very much "new old stock". Its got the wide neck, and the back is different to the others I have seen, the round plate is in the centre near the bottom, and the gold "Adamas by Ovation instruments inc made in USA" is at the top! The price may seem high to Americans but in the UK we pay twice the price for USA guitars, and the reissue 1687 sells for £2,617. Here. http://www.guitarandampshop.co.uk/acatalog/Adamas_W2097-CBV_CVT_Cob... This is the guitar I am selling on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280683008319#h...

I only know what I have been told by the original owner, I am selling it for him, I would have had it myself if the neck was not the wide version because I have got child size hands. So it should be 1689 then?

Beautiful guitar in excellent condition with all of the case candy. However, in difference to what your friend told you, this is a standard neck width Adamas I 1687-8 made in 1979. If it were wide neck it would have been labeled a 1689-8. You might want to revise your eBay auction...

Their main repair guy at the time was Adrian Legg, but I digress.... The coolest thing about the guitar is that you still have the book.

You should know this Beal character is the one who signed your friggin' guitar. Now if you want to keep arguing with the person who ran the company for over 20 years, and whose dad founded the company, please do so and show yourself for a fool. Oh, and coming onto a fan forum for the sole purpose of accessing a target audience to sell your guitar, and then spamming with multiple posts in violation of Forum rules and arguing belligerently with Forum members who know a helluva lot more about the brand and its history than you do, isn't going to make you a sale. Just sayin'.

The confusion has been caused by an incorrect label or as Bill suggested Rose Morris might have swapped the neck in the UK. The guitar is labeled as a 1687 rather than the correct 1689. Stuff like this happens all the time. I had a 1617 Legend with a foil label embossed with 1117. When a factory is putting out a lot of product, occasional glitches occur. The issue that members here have taken you to task over, is your insistance that you are correct on a minor detail which actually has nothing to do with the guitar in question.
