Well, weird turns of circumstance have brought this beautiful guitar back into my possession, but alas, I can't keep it. So it's for sale yet again!

I couldn't believe the condition of this incredible guitar the first time I saw it! It was built 30 years ago (1981) and looks better than many guitars hanging in stores today! The only flaw that I can see is so minor, I'll get it out of the way quickly then on to the good stuff: There is a minor scuff on the back near the nameplate, and the plate itself has some wear. (Take a look at the close up picture, and you will see that I'm kind of stretching a point here.)

Now for the good. And it's ALL good!

The top is perfect. So is the binding. The neck nice and straight. The fretboard is great with almost NO fretwear. The action is spot on, and this instrument plays, to use the time-honored guitarist's axiom, just like butter. The pre-amp is in good working order.

Playability?

Check...

Aesthetics?

Check...

Sound?

So you mean the sound?

Oh My Goodness the sound!

Out of all the guitars that have passed through my hands, my discerning wife has spontaneously complimented just three; my 2001 Collector's, my Martin D-42, and this one.

It is full and ringing with tone; loud and confident with minimal effort; and keeps the string's perfect balance no matter how aggressive you drive it! This is my first real time with a textured top, suspended ring, deep bowl Adamas, and it truly lives up to its hype! I cannot compliment the tone of this guitar enough!

Under different circumstances, I wouldn't let this guitar wander away, but I've already entered discussion with John Budny about a couple of projects for 2012, hence I need the seed money.

It comes with its HSC, and I'm asking $1950 OBO, including shipping in the continental US. I'll be glad to ship overseas, but it's getting cost-prohibitive to do so and it is more difficult to insure. Contact me for a quote.

If we hurry, you can be playing this instrument on Christmas Morning!

I will also consider taking payments as long as they are not spread out too far. (Again because I will have to pay the factory in the next couple of months. You can take some comfort in knowing that your money will be going to support Ovation USA at least. Likewise, an appropriate donation to the maintenance of the OFC will be forthcoming if the guitar sells here.)

But enough talk! They say a picture's worth a thousand words so scroll down for a small novel...more or less. And to see even more pictures, just follow this LINK .

Thanks for looking everyone!

I love the triple overlay of the headstock!

It is a beautiful guitar Patch. The sad truth about it all is there are some of us that can only afford something like this...

There are lots of folks, who can't afford guitars like this, that own one or more. ;) With Patch's lay-a-way offer, it's really just a matter of how bad you want it.

Beautiful guitar Patch. I'm amazed at how some guitars, like this one, travel through time almost unscathed and others, like a few that I've had, came out very scathed. :)

Good luck with the sale. This guitar is going to make someone very happy.

Everyone noticed that this said "OBO" next to the price right?

It's not too late to be strumming this guitar on Christmas morning!

I'm kind of questioning the Millennium I bought a few months ago looking at this! What a beauty!

If only I were independently wealthy. :(

Man Patch...what a beauty. I just dropped $1200 on an 06 and $500 on an 87.

Otherwise, I'd be after this beautiful instrument. Still quite tempting...

FYI, I've bought from Patch before and he's a great guy and you can trust his instruments.

Wow daguitaristz! You got an 87C for $500! That may be a record! What a steal!

Stay tempted my friend. Layaway can be a wonderful thing, especially since there's no interest. ;)

Don't question your purchase of that Millennium! I have one and sound-wise I think it's most definitely one of my best ... LOVE That wider neck ... then again, I still own six Adamas guitars and they are ALL incredible.

I agree with Willa...I have 1687's, #50, reissues, and have had SMT and CVT...

The Millenniun is unique...almost a harpsichordic effect...besides, keeps Pluto as a planet. Kept to play but also as a work of art in my living room.

Someone wants to buy mine, he or she may find the price over the 1687 Adamas I

Yeah, but my 87 got damaged in shipping. So much for a $500 steal. :(

This one is still available. Who wants to make an offer?

Possible sale pending. The auction will be delayed (or hopefully cancelled altogether.)

Congrats Elliot, what a beauty!

And Willa and Tony, the Millennium will be pried out of my cold dead hands when the day comes -- love that thing! Well said about the Harpsichordic effect, my buddy said it sounds like its in stereo when it's unplugged. Only problem is I'm playing it so much lately I'm spending a fortune on strings!
