Ever since I received my W597, I break out where my right arm crosses over the top of the guitar. About on the inside of the elbow and slightly down my forearm. At first I thought a spider had gotten to me there, but they go away when I don't play for a couple of days, and come back when I do. I normally am in short sleeves. Has anyone had irritations from the Carbon Fiber? I mean it's sealed, so shouldn't be a problem, but if I work with fiberglass insulation I get the same kind of rash. Okay....let the jokes begin.....

Do you usually rest your arm on the body of the guitar? Maybe try it with long sleeves. I would think that if it was an allergic reaction, it could still affect you through the long sleeves.

Generally, I play seated with my head inclined towards the guitar top, and within a short time I noticed a strong chemical odor emanating from the soundholes. Although I tried to convince myself that the odor would eventually dissipate, it became so overpowering that the guitar became impossible to tolerate. Thus, I returned the guitar for a refund, and when I explained the reason, several of the Guitar Center personnel examined the guitar and acknowledged the odor. They all said that they were familiar with that model, but had never experienced that problem previously. (Whether they were honest in their evaluation, I have no way to know). Based upon this experience, I would be inclined to believe that there could be a special chemical (or process) used in the manufacture of the woven-top that could cause allergic reactions in certain persons. It would be interesting to know if others have experienced similar problems with this model.

If it is new it may take a while to fully "cure". I would wipe it with water and distilled vinegar, hang it on a wall hanger to air and see if the problem persists. If you are one of those that lays much of the upper forearm on the top bout you will be subject to a heat rash and lap slipout!

I don't think my forearm touches the top as I am very concious of anything that would deaden the sound (although I do sometimes allow my pinky to anchor when picking. I will try long-sleeves and see if that cures the problem. We just bought a hottub, so it is possible the bromine is doing this to me as my skin sensitivity seems to center on chlorine and such.

Worked well (but expensive). I now, however use the new "index" (forgot the name) where you run your PH at 7.8 to 8.1 and with the Ozonator, use little to no chemicals. So far 3 months and the water is crystal clear. I keep some Bromine tabs in it set to the absolute lowest setting. So...probably not that either. Probably just my normal winter dry skin and I need to use more lotion. Oh bother......
