Went down to their area several times...always someone getting the demo. I think Colin (inventor/innovator) has a hit with these. They indicated that they had switched to overseas production and should have them in within a couple of days. The website allows you to send your email - they will notify you as soon as they have the inventory.

It was a little weird being tied to the booth rather than wandering as I felt like it. And it was a little unnerving demoing to the likes of Will Ray, Matt Smith, Bobby Cochrane, Harvey Reid and Thom Bresh (Matt, Bresh & Reid loved the G-band) Lost my voice after the first day and had several run-ins with the NAMM noise police. Anyway, on behalf of Colin and Jim from G-band I’d like to say a huge thank you to Messers Moody & Wong, who provided transport, booth furniture, a fantastic Bose sound system and the wonderful “Book” Viper. Without your help the whole exercise would have been a major pain in the ass. The good news is that we have several major US distubutors, including Kaman, interested in the G-band and have interest from distributors in Europe, Austrailia and Japan. Bose visited the booth to take pics of us using Michael’s system which they are going to post on their user forum, and they’ve promised to loan us a system if we exhibit at Frankfurt. If any OFC members want to try a G-band Miles will have some stock for the OFC store as soon as we have it from the new factory. Price will be around 10 bucks. Once again it was great to hang around with the gang. The jam session at Paul’s place was a lot of fun (the ride home wasn’t, some idiot pulled out in front of us on the 5 and nearly wiped out myself, Al and Michael) It was great to put faces to names (Tony, Bruce, Fred) And it was a honour to be invited to the Ovation 40th bash. After spending 4 days playing Michael's Viper I've gotta have one. Al, keep an eye out for me, or if anyone has one for sale, let me know. I have a Deacon 12 or an Adamas SMT to trade.

If you can strum a handful of chords the G-band can add something to your playing. You don't need to understand music theory, or be a hot player, just select a note on the first string with the g-band and strum or pick some chord shapes. As long as the note selected is related to the key/chords you play then you'll get "extended" chord voicings that you couldn't tune to or physically reach. Some combinations work better than others, but it's pretty intuitive. Working with the G-band on the 6th string is a whole other thing and a lot of fun. Then there's the 2 string version. Then there's the simulated open tunings thing. Then there's using actual open tunings with the G-bands. Then there's combining the G-bands with other partial capos such as the Shubb or 3rd Hand. It's endless, I came up with 3 or 4 new things during the course of the NAMM demos. At one point I had 3 capos on the guitar at the same time! Sorry if I sound like a friggin' salesman, I just think it's a really neat gizmo.

How wrong I was. Performing to a couple of cameras, with no interaction with an audience is a whole different thing. We shot almost 2 hours to get 10 useable minutes. The outtakes are never gonna see the light of day!
