The irony is that while we were busy taking photos poking fun at Martin and getting the Marty's all worked up over at UMGF, I've got a custom Martin in shipment on it's way from Nazareth, via Elderly. See, I truely DON'T hate Martin after all.
This guitar is just amazing. What is it? Well it was custom ordered based on the 000-28 Norman Blake model. I had one structural change and a bunch of cosmetic changes done to it. It's a spruce top, rosewood back/sides with a glossed 12 fret 1-3/4 wideneck and slotted headstock. The wonder of this guitar lays in the fact that it's actually a 14 fret body with a 12 fret neck. It plays like butter and the sound is sweet and pure. You guys would love it even though it's not an O.
Again, sorry to dirty the OFC waters, but this good news just had to be shared. Gee, another 12-fret wideneck slothead. Fancy that. If you're wondering about price, you could probably buy a #47/OFC guitar for less.

Location: SE Michigan | That is one gorgeous guitar. Because it has a 12 fret neck on a 14 fret body does that mean it is a short-scale guitar or is it a normal scale length?

Location: Latitude 39.56819, Longitude -105.080066 | Unlike Dave, I have just a regular old 000-28 Norman Blake without all the customizing Dave did. And while I can only go by how mine plays and sounds, I tend to agree with everything Dave said.
It is a steller guitar.
Now.....I just have to find a Taylor to compliment it and my world will be complete :D |

It's been 24 hours since I walked out of Mandolin's Bros.' front door with a brand spankin' new HD-28. Just like yours, I'm happy with the purchase, and the wife is also very pleased, as she calls it "THE ONE NICE ONE." I played her like there was no tomorrow through most of yesterday and today. Now my fingers really hurt ...
Anyway, time to signoff, and get back to my lesson plans to prepare for tomorrow and the rest of the week. *sigh*

Micheal, your guitar above caused me to order this custom M42 about a year ago.14 fret Slothead,amberburst finish.The M's or 0000 are a great design.The sound is amazing.

Seriously, thanks all for the nice comments. Don't worry my name is still standingOVATION. Michael and Sam have played a lot into my eye-opening that yes indeed there are other flavors of icecream. Their guitars are beautiful but just have too many damn frets!
