It will happen when it happens and it will be what it is. Perhaps this will help gauge the current interest in the project. This time, instead of just listing specification, lets say why we think a certain feature would be nice. I'll go first. In no particular order of importance.... 1)Slothead...because nothing else says "OFC" like a slothead. Whatever the benefits and drawbacks, it is an OFC icon. 2)Textured Top... because there are a certain 34 or so model guitars out there with them. Heck..the majority of us (myself included) never played a textured top guitar. But the people in the know seem to think it is important so I'll go with that. 3)Contour Bowl... Now I sing the praises of the old deep bowl Ovation as much as anybody. But the engineers at Ovation thought enough of this design to make a change. I don't think they made the change for no reason. In the true Ovation spirit of inovation combined with tradition, I say we go with the new bowl. 4)LX neck features...Mostly for the same reasons listed above. The changes were made for a reason. 5)12-frets to the body...Again, another feature that just screams OFC. 6)Cut-a-way body...This feature might not scream OFC. But it will make a few notes easier to reach both for those that use them and for those who hope to someday get there. 7)Abalone...not in excess, but subtle. I don't think the neck needs to be bound in abalone. Just the right about of bling will be good. 8)Oiled neck...This is almost a toss-up. I did not think I would like an oiled neck but since I got my AD-II I have grown to like it. 9)OP-Studio (VIP) pre-amp....A must. It's the latest thing. 10)Standard width neck....I think it would be easier on the pickers than it would be on the barr cord player to to with the standard neck. Well there ya go. Let's beat this horse one more time.

It would look like an old whore in a new dress. OFC guitar should be the following: 1. Slotted headstock - the new "trim" design like the U681. Faced in Koa. 2. 5 piece neck finished in gloss 3. 1-3/4 wide nut 4. 12 frets to the body 5. Cutaway 6. Contour bowl 7. OP Studio 8. Koa top trimmed in tortoise shell 9. Single blow hole on upper bout trimmed in tortoise I would buy one TODAY. Dave

The mothership came back with a flat no way. The reason; the whole principle of the #47 re-issue was to recreate the original EXACTLY...All I wanted was to do was be able plum it through an amp sometime...Still being told June/July for delivery. I guess by that time, Al may have something firmer on the OFC...Guess I'll have to keep saving to buy a blue OFC slothead too, just for the a/e option ;) KOA  far out Dave :D

I thought the final spec was decided on ages ago ? Hey Tim, I'm sure your a little disappointed that they wouldn't come to the party as far as the pickup goes but you've got to admire them sticking to their original intention of offering an exact replica of #47.

Who knows...maybe it will not be the type I want to buy...maybe I will not be able to afford it. But it could be the one! We must all be patient and wait for it to happen. In the meantime this is just some wreckless speculation to pass the time.

I've played Martins that were great and I've played Martins that were shit, but I'm not going to bash somebody for their choice.

I assure you that once rick hall hears back from frank U that I will have some information on the OFC. but to be honest I have other more important pressing things to attend to now so don't get mad if I can't get you the answers you need right away

Like I said at the start...it will happen when it happens and it will be what it will be. We are not a bunch of outraged villagers storming the castle with torches and pitchforks. Just take care of whats on your plate while we prattle on.
