Played a little, sampled a good mix of models, and were both blinded by the neon when all the switches were thrown. Stephen mentioned the soon to be released limited edition OFC Guitar. Where can one obtain more information about this model, and how many of you OFC mates are already standing in line looking for some GAS relief?

If it's merely aesthetics, from what I've been able to discern from the Martin board, there are many who like the UMGF's model, but find changing strings to be quite the chore. Some complain that they wind up scratching the headstock's finish when restringing.

I've developed a technique that makes it fairly quick and doesn't scratch a thing. I find that slotheads by and large have better sustain than simillar guitars without. This I attribute to the greater break over the nut.

Guess we need to show them how to play their guitars also (head ducking to avoid the flying objects thrown my way  )

It's no chore and there is no reason anyone would scratch the finish unless they were extremely careless or a freaking idiot. There are technical reasons that slots sound better than flats and that's all been discussed here previously (ie search). A new slot arrives today and I'll give a full report on Monday. I think you'll like this one and it's not what you think it is. Hint: CLLXCBSBWNSH Dave

I happen to think the carved headstock and bridges on the slotted and non slotted versions of the adamas guitars make for the best dam looking guitars I have ever laid eyes on myself. THe slotheads just make them more "Old School" and they have grown on me since I first saw one. I am not sure of the techincal advantages or disadvantages of a slothead. Can't be that bad to string them?? I am glad for one that Ovation made these flagship Adamas models back in the day... It gives some of us that ultimate guitar purchase goal to shoot for. Totally too cool for school to own one of these. Randy

The aesthetics are great. But more often than not, after one plunks down the money for a Tele with that aesthetically pleasing, vintage-looking three-saddle bridge, one is immediately hit with the fact that the guitar is almost impossible to intonate. Then the hunt begins for a newer three-saddle bridge that looks a lot like the vintage style bridges but can be intonated for each string--or for something more updated than that. And some of the Martin forumites discovered this (and I'm just commenting on what I read; I'm not taking sides)when they got their forum model guitar. Me? I'm a bottomfeeder, I guess--out of necessity--so I'll never be able to afford the OFC model, so it doesn't matter to me. Again, I was just saying...

The same physics holds true at the bridge. Dave

If you were going to strangle someone would you a) simply push the rope against their throat, or b) would you wrap the rope around from the back causing a much greater angle and thus more pressure on their throat to kill them faster? Dave PS - In addition to acronymns, I'm also very good at analogies.

When it comes to that string angle bend is directly proportionate to the amount of sustain achieved equation, it might be theoretically true, but Greg Bennett is always talking about that in his Samick videos, and 95% of those Greg Bennett guitars are duds.
