Dear Rick,

Let me start by pro-actively thanking you for all the support you give to the OFC. We sincerely appreciate it.

Now (the butt kissing is over), on behalf of my fellow enthusiasts I would like to PLEASE urge you to start thinking about the 2007 Collectors guitar by simply looking back 12 months and pull the 12 Fret Blow Hole Koa slothead off the shelf and make THAT your 2007 Collector.

Just think, the design is DONE, the factory will have had a full year experience building Koa tops, the bugs will be out of the VIP, and the factory will have had plenty of experience making Blow Holes from the new Adamas. This just makes TOO much sense to be ignored. You will make quite a few OFC members who frequently invest in such instruments VERY happy.

PLEASE AT LEAST CONSIDER IT !!!

Thanks, Dave

Concider the big picture.
What are the real chances of the Collectors having a Koa top two years in a row?

Could be pretty good.
At least it's solid.
I'd vote with you too! and if the neck is big enough I might even buy one.....

and PS, it is the right time to start thinking about 07.

This would be a guitar that I'd spend my hard earned cash on! Put on a contoured bowl and make it a tone meister! Wide neck, 12 fret, slothead, with a koa top! Damn, what's not to love about this? C'mon Rick.... make us happy!

Perhaps Nikkkki Sixxxxxxx could sign all the tops in indelible marker. That would really put the icing on the cake for these guys. Go to it Rick.

the fact is that 12 fret slothead steel strings are minority interest guitars, especially with wide necks. I for one am very surprised that the 12-fret Adamas went into production. I agree that the 12-fret Koa proto with the Selmer-inspired soundhole was a great guitar. It's the coolest thing they've done since the '97 collectors, but probably doesn't have enough mass appeal to warrant tooling up for a production run. I'd buy one too, but a guitar company can't survive by pandering to a handful of trainspotters.

I guess the factory could make them to custom order, so why not ask. Frankly I'd lose the Koa top. Koa looks great, but for me just doesn't cut it tonally as a soundboard material.

I wasn't on the OFC tour but when I saw the pics of the new models/proto's, I thought that model would've definately gone into production.

It was certainly the pic of the litter.

A number of people have asked about custom orders for this guitar and the answer has been a consistent NO.

Randy, Ovation was founded by going off the beaten path. My FD-14 is way off the path, but it's also the best sounding Ovation I own.

What's funny, is that I don't remember the sound of the 12 fret koa from the tour. I just know that Ovation can make a killer fingerpicking guitar if they put their mind to it.

Well now your right on the money there mister....I guess that would make me a traditional/progressive thinker? Something wrong there...

I don't know why....but I find that I do not like the Q Guitars..... you know the ones with the surfer shape holes or are they claw marks from Jurassic park???? I also do not like the sound holes on one side......Just don't. I know this is blasphemy but I can't get past it.
And I do not like the flame tops. Somehow they do not work on an acoustic for me. I know there is a market for these. Mostly the younger crowd. Flames belong on an electric. I am quite happy with being radical with my Adamas's.
I guess I am stuck in the seventies or something.
I still get looks and questions every time The Adamas's perform anywhere, never fails, I hope I am helping sell Ovations I am playing them just as good as I can!

I was at GC in Cincinnati Tuesday and played a lot of interesting O's. I did play an '06 Collectors and frankly I didn't like the way it sounded AT ALL. It sounded way too compressed...like the sound couldn't get out of the guitar or something. I did play a couple of T's and ,as always, the sound from these relative cheapies blew me away. I can't tell if it was the sound of the Koa that I didn't like. Maybe a center-soundhole would do the trick...I don't know.

Close. It's paved with Taylor enthusiasts who were trampled by the Martin fanbois.

Careful, boys. We may get a Hal Jordan sighting if we continue heading down this path.
