Location: UK - Canterbury Kent | I used a Fender Princetown 65 watt at my last two gigs and had complaints from other band members in front of me, on the brittle and tinny sound, when using my 1778-LX. I had to switch over to my D28. I had the treble and mid range down low, but it was still too sharpe a sound. As always, we did not have any time for a sound check.
I know that the Princetown 65 is fine with my Telecaster, but it obviously does not suit my Ovation and Martin. And I thought it sounded great.
My local guitar Luthier up the road in Rochester (Yes in Kent and near you know who)suggested either a Marshalls or Fender accoustic amplifier. I have not come across either of these in our local guitar stores.
I need between 60 -100 watts. Any suggestions, but please note that this would be a UK purchase.

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | Does your band use a P.A. system? If so, you may want to try going direct to the board. If not, the Fender and Marshall acoustic amps are very nice, but I'm not sure if Marshall makes on with the wattage that you need. |

Keep your eyes ope on Ebay for a Fender Acoustisonic JR. It has plenty of power and sounds really nice. If you are EVER going to run outboard effects, save your self some money and buy an older non-DSP model. |

Location: UK - Canterbury Kent | John B - Thanks for your response. We have a PA for vocals, but none of us plug in to it, we all use our own amps and there are five of us plus a drummer.
Fred - I will look up the Acoustisonic on the web site. I tend to keep away from effects - I like a nice clean sound. Again, thanks for your input.

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I use two Acoustasonic Jrs, one for each channel. 8o watts, 2 8 inch speakers. Plenty of power. Excellent bass response from my 1651 and 1866. They usually run about $300 on eBay. |

| I use an acoustasonic 30 dsp and a tech21 Power engine 60. It's a very nice combination that allows you to just go with the 30 for smaller spaces and add in 60 more watts for larger spaces. |

| Not a great price when you have to ship/insure it to the Uk then pay 3.9% import duty and then 17 1/2% tax. And then find out that 2 seconds of 240volt power completely melted the transformer. (Or are they switchable?)
The Marshall 100 is perfect for what you're looking for and shouldn't be too hard to find on ebay and is way less than £400 new. On this side of the pond there's not much competition in the bang for the buck stakes. Like all Marshalls its a class act and built to gig. Acoustosonics are a lot rarer over here. |

Location: Scotland | Forget acoustic amps and give me a call or send me an email. I can hook you up with a bi-amped active full range 210watt PA speaker with a 10" woofer/1"compression driver, which will kick the ass of every acoustic amp for at least twice the money. All you need is an acoustic pedal/processor or a mini mixer and you have a killer acoustic rig. Cost is way under 200 quid. They're compact and light as a feather. They're on our website if you want to check them out. Brand new with a 2 year warranty. |

This may be another dumb question, but wasn't Trace Elliott a Brit acoustic amp manufacturer? They used to be the top of the line and I always thought they were so expensive here because of the import problem. |

Location: SE Michigan | I recently sold my Marshall AS50R acoustic amp and bought a Yorville NX55p amplified speaker and a small Yamaha mixer with effects. The Yorkville has 550 watts, a 12" speaker and a horn, it sounds fantastic and will almost knock walls down with it's power, and it's only slightly larger and heavier than the Marshall amp.
The Yamaha mixer has all the effects I need and has 4 XLR inputs so this rig can serve as a small PA.
My main complaint against these small acoustic combo amps is the tiny little speakers and overall lack of power, plus they suck as vocal (PA) amplifiers. |

Other options: Fender Cyber Twin (it works for latin acoustic music), and a Bose and a line 6 unit. Also, check out Peavey's and Acoustisonic. |
