I've gone over as much material as I can fifteen seconds at a time, and can't seem to figure out why some O's/A's have epaulets that turn out, while the majority seem to point in. My 1881 points out, as do a few Adamas (II?) models that I've seen, but almost all others, including all the Elites I've found point in.

Why the difference?

The best place to do a visual recon is at www.ovationtribute.com where there is a picture of nearly everything (no Custom Elite 12 strings with a contour bowl).

I believe various internal artistic struggles took place over the years but for the most part the elites are "standardized" and the Adamas line had more differences.

BTW - Did you pick up a Mother's Day card yet or do I need to get one for you?

Funny, Mike.

I not only got a card, but also got one from the girls to their mom, and flowers, AND a gift!

Hah!

How'd you do? :D

You forgot the cats?

C759LX-Koa - Nice try but it may need more soundholes to be right! That would be a great guitar to borrow!

Looks like the 88, 90, 92 and 98 Collector's were outies. All the rest are innies. SWMBO got her Honda Pilot yesterday for Mother's Day, so we're calling the 87 Collector's my Father's Day present. It would be nice if it gets here tomorrow, my daughter's birthday, who was born in 87. Fed Ex ground seems awfully slow.

If Tuppy were here, he'd have an opinion that was much less delicate.

There was a great strategy for determining which way they went.

They all started as innies. Then one day Glen's mom put them on upside down and DAMN if the guitar didn't sound WAY better. The engineers looked into it and determined that outies let the top vibrate better right down the center. And THAT is the reason that outies always sound better. You heard it here first. Dave

Frighteningly enough, that makes a certain amount of sense, Dave (except for the part about Glen's mom). My 1881 has the outies, and it resonates REALLY well for a shallow body. Are there any other Adamas II models made with "outies?"

Mine is an outie that likes to go into an innie. I didn't read this thread first. I hope that this is what you are talking about or did I just kill a thread.
