Just dropped MasterTempleman off at his hotel in Manhattan and my guitar cases on the MusicRoom floor . . . time to decompress and see how long it takes for the smile that I've wearing for the past four days to where off (probably @8:01 tomorrow morning . . .) THANK YOU to all of the first-timers who braved highways, airport baggage handlers, gas prices, weather, time, money, spouses, and everything else to participate and make it GREAT!! Masters Wabbitt&Wong, LLC: Thank You for sacrificing so much of your participitory time to capture all the images, audio & video (not to mention evidence) that'll be used in what'll be an (I'm sure) fantastic upcoming project. Schroeder!! Another endearing soul from the other side of the pond that I wish I saw on a daily basis. Plays a mean guitar, but his back-up singing is real shit . . . JeffW, MWoody,Ignimbyte, Weaser, SleepyEyes; At LAST we meet!! Had a great time with all of you!! WorshipLeader(& spouse?) did some GREAT harmonies (w/Woody) at the Jam Youngin's: BauerHillBoy's nephew Dan and MitchRX's son Andrew were VERY impressive young players, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing with you. Lisa(WillingHeart04): if y'need any help w/that VanMorrison (or any other) song, just e-mail . . Mike(Fugot): Thx! ;-) M/M Stonge! for their wonderful hospitality for opening up their home (yet again) to a bunch odd-balls . . . The staff at HomewoodSuites were VERY gracious and accomodating to us for letting us pretty much "occupy" the lobby at all hours of the day & night . . . Strummin'12, Temp, Susan, and Matt for the extremely informative (and fun) Workshops! Frank, Rick, Jol, Sherwood, John, Kim, and EVERYONE at the Factory once again did an outstanding job at making us feel welcome. Thanks to ALL. And . . . Al: When you finally wake up . . . . "THANKS" (btw: We need to start working on next year's "5th Annual" . . . I'll call you tomorrow . . I got some ideas . . .:-) When all was said and done, I had more than a few "first-timers" tell me that NOW they "understood" WHY attempts are made to coerce, goad, and berate people to sign-up and participate. Once they'd "done it", they now realize why it's "worth it". THANKS ALL.

Joined: July 2004 Posts: 812 Location: Hicksville, NY | The OFC Tour was great! The factory tour was the best one that I’ve attended to date. Unlike other tours I’ve attended in the past wherein I was not allowed to go past the Plexiglas, both the Hamer and Ovation factory tours were up close and personal. Sure, there were machines that helped build the guitars, but human hands built the majority of it. I could still visualize the patience and dedication of the employees who built these guitars – whether it be sanding necks or applying abalone trims – it was written all over their faces, and it just made me appreciate Ovation guitars more and more. I still couldn’t believe that I was just within a few feet from the equipment and the employees who built these guitars … I actually end up having sawdust on my clothes! Many “cheers!” to the members that I have had the opportunity to meet, chat, play guitar, sing-along; enjoy the music, and anything and everything in between. It’s a pleasant surprise to finally meet Mitchrx and Phil Wong in person. What made it quite unusual, but noteworthy about the meeting was the fact that we all traveled roughly 2 ½ hours to CT for this event. Back in NY, we’re only a 15 to 30-minute drive away from each other. To Weaser P, even though I no longer reside in the Syracuse area, it’s a great feeling being able to meet a fellow member from the place where I grew up. I would like to acknowledge Schroeder for going out of his way to land the much talked-about #47 in my hands at the factory. I was at a loss for words for having/had the opportunity to play her that my facial expressions seemed that I was being nonchalant about it. Seriously though … I was really grateful! Many “thanks!” to Cliff and Brian_T for giving me the privilege to play your guitars at the hotel lobby. Given that I left my only O under the care of John Budny for repairs after attending the Hamer tour in the morning, I thought that I would feel left out. I really appreciate your generosity. I’m greatly appreciative to Alpep and Matt Smith for having had the privilege to provide assistance in any way. The members who attended Matt’s class sounded like a million bucks – I’m speaking from a listener’s point of view. And to the members who received the notes at the end of the session, I just hope that what I wrote down made sense, considering the numerous errors that I might have included in the process. Matt delivered some of the best approaches and techniques to guitar playing and music enjoyment, that I hope I managed to capture most of them on paper. Lastly, I apologize to the members that I never had the opportunity to meet during the tour. There were many great things going on at the tour simultaneously that I wished that I could be in many places at once. I will admit that I too, became overwhelmed. Also, most members were either busy with other members, or with something else that I felt that it might be rude to just “butt in.” As a result, I kept my distance for the time being – out of respect – but the opportunity to formally or casually introduce myself never materialized. My apologies once again … Overall, I was glad to be a part of it, and I will definitely look forward to next year! :)

Weaser, Waskel, Trboy, Moody, Witko, Slipkid, Cliff, Al, Stonge, Kim, John, Temp, Phil, Bauerhillboy(et al), Brian, Fred, Woody, Mitch and to all of you who attended....Thank you. To Schroeder...Good Riddance.

Sorry I left so early (dreading the loooong drive) that I didn't get to kiss everyone goodbye(no tongue  )......I didn't even get to cop a feel!!(except for cliff & ttenn ;) ) Had a wonderful time meeting new friends and seeing old ones from '04's tour.......missed meeting a few who were at the tour and I apologize. (my loss) All the music was good and the antics were hilarious! (Dave's the ringleader....Brad is a total mental case...along with all the other assorted nuts-to many to list here....) "Thank you" to everyone for a great enjoyable weekend, hope I can make next year's . .........This year's tour DVD should be a sell-out!!!

Joined: January 2003 Posts: 9 Location: NE Ohio | A quick and tired thank you to Ovation,Frank U. the members of the OFC and to Alpep for finally talking me into coming. I had a great time met a ton of great people and players. spent time with some old friends and met many new ones. Things I'll remember most. My new friend and roommate Fred winning the guitar. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Hanging in the lobby listening to a twelve plus guitar circle jamming to the Beatles (next year I be less shy and join in) Touring both Ovation and Hamer and seeing the new changes since the last time I toured. Grass Skirts (say no more you had to be there to appreciate it. Photos won't do the whole expirence justice.) Thunder Road on Uke. Dave that rocked. Matt Smith putting my new Elite T through it's paces. I hope I can do that guitar justice after Matt played it LOL. Saturday morning guitar lesson with Susan. Seeing Kim Keller, lunch with Bill Kaman and just hanging out. And of Course the hospitality and friendship of Ed and Karen St.Onge. Thank yo both for another fun year end party. Thanks to everyone I met I couldn't have had a better time if I wanted. Not too bad for my fifth post ever.

Joined: June 2003 Posts: 1792 Location: Rego Park, NY, | Thanks to everyone involved with this year's tour. I had a great time. The hotel jam was great. Each year I was able to see some old friends and met some new ones. As hard as it may seem, I actually put my camcorder and camera down long enough to play some guitars at the factory and at Susan Mazer's workshop. Even though I didn't contribute music wise to the event I actually enjoyed documenting the event with video and photos. Waskel, Brad and I are now official members of the OFC A/V squad.

He explained every machine, how things used to be done, why it's done differently now, showed us the newest technology (some of it still wrapped in plastic), gave a detailed tour of the Adamas area, showed us exactly what's done by hand, and generally made all very proud to be Ovation fans. Here's just one example of Ovation's superior build techniques. This is how the five layer binding gets attached to the body. It's done by hand with this turntable type machine. Note all of the little hydraulic pistons. Very cool! ![]() Special thanks to Jeff W for bringing his Lowden and passing it around for all to enjoy. Even though we're all Ovation fans, we do acknowledge that there are some great non-O guitars. Jeff's Lowden is the best wood box I've ever seen and played. I'm still smiling from this tour.
