I've been wanting to post this to my gallery for a long time now. Maybe one day...

This is a souvenir "guitar" my son brought back to me from his Peru trip last summer. It plays very well despite the strings being fishing line, and all tuned to H#, the frets being drawn on with magic marker. The wood tuning pegs also work great. I don't think he even knew the significance of the llama.

Capt'n: I'll buy it from you. It would be worth it just to do an El-Ka-Bong over a certain llama infatuated member. Dave

Hanging on a column in the fingerboard area of the Factory is a llama calendar . . . .

. . . I think Woody got a picture of it.

That's the sound of the Llama joke goin' over my head.

If this isn't a super-private-inside-joke-only-known-to-the-elite around here.... would somebody get me up to speed on this one?

:)

This may or may not help. The origin is sketchy. But mention llamas somewhere in a post and you're in. In a year or two, say that you made the original llama comment, and some may believe you.

It all started MANY years ago with the MontyPython album "Live at CityCenter" (least that's where I first heard it). There is a skit where John Cleese does a dissertation in Spanish and Terry Jones is offering English translation.

Playing on the Spanish word "llama" (pronounced "yahmah" - which actually means "name"), the dissertation becomes an absurd lecture regarding the animal, Llama. Ex: ". . the llama has fins for swimming and lives in mighty rivers, like the Amazon . ."
Thoroughly absurd stuff (but then again, it IS Python) . . .

Cut to about 30 years later:

In an effort to goad/recruit OFC members to participate (I seem to do a lot of this) in the 2nd TourJam, I recounted several extra-curricular events that went on at the previous year's Tour:
Alpep Look-Alike Contest, Naked Chambermaid Rodeo, Elevator Drag-Racing, etc. .

I seem t'remember that one of my comments was that my credit was charged extra because I'd left an Ecuadorian maid naked in the shower with a bottle of tequila and a live llama sleeping in my bed. Such was the impetus.

That'sMyStory&I'mStickingToIt.

Is it just me, or does the llama in the drawing appear to be a male? Way to go Cliff.

You mean HERS, and there's no donkey in the picture. Here. I fixed it, and gave her longer lashes, just like a real female llama

A word of caution watch your back because Cliff will get even. The sound you hear is the click and then bang :(

The "click" are the buckles on the guitar case, and the "bang" is the rotten egg going in and the lid being slammed shut.... The reason there's only one audible "click" is that he has help... :D
