At Stonge's house, day after the Tour - Kim Keller ran a litle scale that started on the 6th string first fret and ran up the neck.

Said it was the "Official Kaman Test Riff"!

Same as featured on the Made in USA DVD.

Does someone have the TAB for that so I can be cool like Kim? It probably belongs on Jerome's Tribute site as well!

Isn't that just the scale the QA guys play that checks every string and fret? I think Matt called it an Iolian diminished triad scale with dropped 5ths and boomarang 3rds. Very tasty.

from Kim Keller aka "blitz's dad"

You can play-test a guitar any way you want as long as
you hit all of the playable notes evenly.
If you do it in groups of 3 notes per string, the pick
goes down, up, down, and there is no rest stroke
before going to the next string. If you do this
enough, it gets too fast to hear individual notes and
the point of the test is lost. If you do it in groups
of 4, you scrub off some of the speed by doing
straight alternate picking, and there is a long way
for the pick to travel before you hit the next string.

If you want one that'll really frost your flawless
technique, try groups of 3 (down, up down)starting on
the high E string and moving down. Then try it with
alternating picking on each string (E: down, up, down;
B: up, down up; G: down, up, down, and so on...).
It turns what can be a fairly routine job into finger
exercises that can improve your overall playing
skills.

I've used this same technique in... shall we say ... pursuit of other interests, outside the guitar....

Actually, I'd say it hasn't worked well for Jeff, as the best he could bring to CT was this really ugly chick from the UK.....

Weas, who was that nice guy you sent to the Tour in your place, and was wearing your name tag?

He seemed so quiet and polite...

I'd rather have a NasalZit....

I'm still trying to clean-off the Uke-like eminations wafting out of the Lowden after Witko used it for a day...

For the record your Lowden was one of the best sounding guitars there. It was a pleasure to play it.

Too bad it wouldn't fit in my backpack...

Thanks for bringing it, Jeff. It really was a joy to get some time with it. You actually brought a non-O.
Some people just wore the t-shirt...

I appreciated playing it too, Jeff. Very nice. Just one request tho - next time you offer to let me play it, can I hold it on my lap?

I was gonna try it switch it with an MOB when he wasn't looking, but we needed *something* to smash at the jam session, and Jeff already has a Hirade with a crack in it... :D :p :D :p

Seriously, It's a very nice guitar. In fact, all of Jeff's guitars are very nice.

It was certainly my pleasure y'all got a chance to play it. But all these kind words make it difficult to be a tasteless bore...

but Wease, do you you think you could reach the guitar around me??

(... and for the record, if a little of that ThunderRoad uke stays on the Lowden, I wouldn't be all that upset)
