Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | I started with poly and went to nano. If I'm not mistaken, the poly webs have more coating, which affects the tone. The nanos seem to be a bit more flexable, even at medium gauge, and have a brighter sound. I really like the Exlir strings, but hate paying the price for a set. |

I will be changing to Nano on the 12 as well next string change. I think the Nano have a more crisp clarity, slightly brighter tone. But the Poly's do sound good on the Pacemaker.
There is a visible difference in the coating of the two. Poly looks almost like a sleeve. You reaaly can't see the coating on the Nano, but you can feel it. I like the feel of both. |

Location: Munich, Germany | The Polywebs have more of a silky feeling, are very noiseless while sliding barré chords. Very different tone to uncoated strings, but I like the sound very much - one of my favorite Strings, but not that longlasting: the coating is "furring" of - sorry, I don't know an english term to explain it. The wounded strings are golden.
The Nanowebs have more the tone of a uncoated string (if you compare to 1818's, the Nanos are closer to phosphor bronzes, but still not that crispy and clear), more noise while sliding. But they last longer. Wounded strings are bronze.
In comparison to D'addarios EXP's I prefer the Elixirs, even if they last not half as long as the EXP's. They are really a dream to play, soft and silky, and I like the sound very much. But I know - purists would hardly ever take coated strings.

Location: Canton (Detroit), MI | I tried the Polywebs a couple of years ago and absolutely HATED them. I've used the Nanowebs on some non-Ovation guitars and they were fine. I use D'Addario EXPs and regular strings on my Ovations.

Location: SE Michigan | I'm a regular use of nano's. I prefer the 80/20's over the phospher bronze. I tied the poly's once, too much coating for my tastes, kind of like a string wearing a condom. |

I've tried most brands of coated string and for me any advantage in terms of longevity is outweighed by their cost. Personaly I'd rather have the superior tone of uncoated strings and live with having to change them regularly. I would add that I have particularly corrosive body chemistry and I can kill a set of coated strings damn near as easily as uncoated. |

Location: Cicero, NY | I know I'm checking in late (I know - what else would you expect?) but I would have to throw a vore into the nano corner over the polys as well. The polys are ok but I really like the nanos for tone and lasting ability. I would also add that I'm not playing three hours a night three times a week either so a set of nano's can last me three-four months before I'll change 'em. The regular giggers might tell you much differently than that.
And unfortunately Heineken trade laws won't allow me to discuss my particuluar body chemistry. |

But during this string, I found a strong desire to know if mosquitoes die when they bite Paul Templeman!!!
