used lighter gauge bass strings than treble on your Adamas?

... by this I mean, using, say, something like "medium" Trebles and"light" Bass.

This new Custom Adamas is so responsive, it might be fun to play with it's string configuration.

It came with D'Add EXP (12), which sounded great. I put Elixir's(13) and it warmed and darkened nicely and now I'm curious about experimenting with a very bright tone... while keeping the power of the medium trebles...

thoughts??

playadamas uses a different gauge "G" String on his ute prototype. the guitar is very responsive he needed to tone it down a bit.

this is something that electric players do all the time.

Strings are cheap. Experiment.

I got some Pyramid silver plated steel acoustic strings just for yucks. You might try a set of those, too.

I LOVE the G-String response!!! (In more ways than one)... But don't get me wrong... This isn't about balancing out the sound... It's that I think this guitar is capable of a real variety of cool tones... and will accomodate all sorts of interesting string configurations...

Try stringing it "Nashville".

Bill has an Adamas strung Nashville up at his house that I played last weekend . . .
I'd never played Nashville before, and the guitar sounded REALLY cool!! . . .

Yeah, I understand that, Al.
I had just never bothered to string a guitar (or play one) that way before . . .

You know, I've never tried nashville stings, either ...
Though I've experimented with different gauges

Go for it Jeff, it should sound good.
O(n one of my Nationals I put regular lites and a 18B and 16E. It's in open D for slide. The heavier strings sound much better.

I've bought Nashville strings in the past from here: JustStrings Nashville . The are D'adds and I've been very happy with the service and selection from the vendor ... lots and lots of strings choices to try out ...

Jeff, try the Savarez strings recommended by Fred. I put some on the custom Adamas. Amazing is all I can say. Hard to find tho.

I think Fred might be a dealer... I have a set of Savarez he gave me on my classical.

Are the ones you have on your Custom A silk and steel?

More like a "pusher" :p .

I have in my posession, not one, but TWO sets of the Argentine MF1610's. Anyone wanna get hooked?? I actually found them at GC cheap. The GHS gypsie steels, or anything in that family sound good on these guitars.

I generally like Savarez. Not all of them, but I think a surprising amount of their products are really good.
