Quick report. Cootie arrived today.

Good: Sound is AMAZING. Best sounding Ovation I have ever heard. Exactly what I wanted. Exactly what I expected.

Bad: I ordered a 12 fret cutaway UTE. I got a 12 fret 2080 with a UTE crossweave top. Still with the 2080 sound hole. No eapulets. No glitter/sparkles. Studio preamp low battery light stays on all the time, even if the preamp is taken out of the can. Have to take the battery out. Seems to work fine. Battery light stays on, even when phantom powered thru the amp.

Not sure where the breakdown occured. Factory was closed after the delivery was made by UPS on Friday so we have to wait until Monday to see what happened. We have all the emails to the factory showing what was ordered.

Pictures later tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Not sure what to do.

You said the sound was AMAZING so unless you really hate the looks, I would consider keeping it....with the factory making some concessions of course. :D Maybe giving you a VIP. I think the cans are the same for that one and the Studio.

Sounds like a one of a kind beauty. I look forward to seeing the pics.

Im trying to picture this. You have a 12 fret slothead cat eye sound hole cutaway midbowl adamas. and I thought jeffs was righteous. wow, that actually is cool. the factory will right the electronics, sucks that it is like that right from the factory. but customer service is excellent at Adamas/ovation/hamer. 12 fret cateye cutaway...wow

12-fret cateye...is that a slothead? Sounds awesome, even if it isn't quite what you ordered.

I'd play with it this weekend, then talk to O on Monday, after you've had a chance to bond (or not).

Oh, and PICTURES WILL BE REQUIRED!!! :D

No, the VIP won't work. It has a different can. The Studio works with the OpPro. The VIP is different.

Quick photo. Will take some better ones tomorrow in the light. Yes, Fred, those are Savarez strings!

This is what I ordered:

No kidding.

To me, the mistake blows away what was originally ordered. Personal taste obviously but if you decide not to keep it, let me know. I think I might have a good home for it!

Sticker says U681T which makes no sense. I thought the cutaways were 581's, full bodies were 681s. I figured this would be a U581T. Since I ordered it with a contour bowl, I expected it to then become a CU581T, hence "cootie".

WOW,

Reflecting between what you got and the nasty nikey swoosh model 2080...(yuck, by the way)...that is a really, really sharp design. The look, the slothead, the cutaway contour body, and the cats-eye opposite the cutaway really is striking.

I echo the other's, if you decide you don't want it. I'll take it off your hands ;)

Hey Tom,

Re-order it CORRECTLY, and sell this one (to the highest bidder). Doesn't sound like you'll have any trouble getting rid of it :p :D :p :D

All I can say is WOWWOWWOWWOWWOWWOW...(ad infinitum)

I agree; even if it's not what you ordered...dang! That baby has to sing. Did it come with all your warranty info and stuff? Sounds like someone at Ovation put in way too many hours that week...

Great-looking guitar. I've not been sold on the "cateye" look yet, but I'd take one like that in a heartbeat!

Good looking guitar... BUT I really dislike the label placed in the center of the 'hole'. It just doesn't look right.

Move it center, use a dark foil, "whatever"...

Can't imagine how it would look on the Koa  :(

What's making me keep looking at ttenns pics, is that I ordered a 12 string 2080 with the MOP elite inlays, (via new jersey) and I was dreaming of a 2080 with MOP elite inlays to match the 12 string. this changes things. ......it never ends

MAN THAT'S NICE! I think way better than what you ordered. Personal opinion, you'd be crazy not to keep it. Dave

PS - Remove the label.

Tom - Beautiful, beautiful instrument. Personally, I love the look of the 2080, so I would have ordered what you got initially. Those MOP inlays on the fretboard are gorgeous, and I bet it is a cannon - Congrats!

Although I do know what it is like to have waited for a guitar to be made for a long time, and then finally opening the box and not seeing what you were hoping for ...

I tried both 2080's last weekend, one of them I think was longneck ... both were boomers. If you got this for a good price:KEEP IT!

Tom,
Sorry to hear you didn't get what you ordered... Who was your dealer?

That being said... It is a very cool machine.
