No. We wish. We beg them every year, around maybe May or June, or in the early days March, to let us in there, disrupt production and annoy everyone, but they just keep flipping us off. What a bunch of assholes.

Thats strange...cause...when I worked there...anyone could tour the factory as long as they gave some notice...as a matter of fact...I know you can drive up to the service area and walk right in...ive done it lately!...it's a very small , old new england 5 story brick building that employees nice people from the surrounding areas...and is a very firendly place!

Flume, I was joking, we've invaded the place for the last 4 years in a row. 5th anniversary coming up. All of us who have made the trek have nothing but the utmost regard for everyone up there.

Bill, sounds like a plan. Leave the Collings AJ.

First off welcome. Interesting you bring up Schaller heads. I have a 1112 at the factory right now and am in conflict with myself as to whether I should up grade the Deluxe Chrome tuners that are on it to to gold Schallers. Just what are the tuners that are on it now? And how do they compare to the Schallers?

1112 would be a non-electric Custom Balladeer. The 1112 was spec'd with Chrome Schaller M6's. Some models had M6N with black nylon casings. The gold versions of the Schaller M6 tuners are identical in every respect to the chrome M6 except that the gold plating corrodes a lot faster. If the gold upgrades are not Schaller, but are Ping or whatever, don't bother.

OK, first question for you. Hypothetically if someone is placing an order through a dealer for a custom spec'd guitar in the $3000.+ list price range and is willing to pay even MORE to have them OMIT the label on the inside of the bowl, why will they NOT do it? I DON'T WANT A F*CKING LABEL AND SOME GLUE NAZI INSISTS THAT I MUST HAVE ONE AND INSISTS THAT IT HAS TO BE EXACTLY IN THIS CERTAIN SPOT.

Sorry to dump this on you at our first encounter (I'm actually a very nice guy). But THIS is driving me f*cking nuts. I hate the damn label, I hate how it looks, I hate where it's located. I swear to christ I'm going to take a big freaking TAYLOR label and stick it right over the Ovation label and be done with it. How hard could it possibly be to hit me with some additional upcharge and send the damn LABEL guy on break for 2 minutes when my custom order rolls through his work area?

Welcome to the OFC. Dave

Thanks for the greeting!!Been a while....but...I believe those old heads have plastic parts on them. I can't remember the brand, I use to know this stuff back in the day, but, plastic breaks over time...buy schaller heads of your choice online somewhere...you will save alot vs buying from repair shop...replace yourself...(easy!)..and never worry about them again!

Paul, are you saying the tuners on the guitar right now are the M6 in chrome? The tuners I'm thinking of are the gold tuners that are put on the Custom Legends. Are they the M6's you're talking about?

Thanks...Dave

They should be. If they look like this they are M6

http://www.stewmac.com/shopby/Instrument/Resonator_guitar/Tuners/Sc...

I've seen recent Custom Legends with Schaller clones but weren't Schaller. The import tuners are OK, but there's something about the teutonic precision of the Schallers that instills confidence.
