Location: Columbus, OH | I've been gigging with my L1 since spring and after a gig or two learning how to really use it, I've been incredibly pleased. Crisp clear sound. Very natural. Easy to transport. No more wondering what the house mix sounds like. Fills the room better than my traditional p.a.
I never thought I'd like vocals without reverb! |

Location: Columbus, OH | I was too Al. A friend had a co-worker selling one that was like new and even back in the boxes for a bit less than a new setup, so I gave it a shot. My friend already had one but said if I didn't like it, he'd buy it from me since he wanted a second one. I'm doing a lot of acoustic gigging these days and this just makes my life SO much easier and it sounds so good once I learned how to use it properly. We played a pretty big club last night with very high ceilings and cranked it up pretty good. I was worried it wouldn't be enough but it filled the room nicely. |

Location: Scotland | The 2 main channels have pre-programmed EQ. There's 100 programs for various types of microphones, piezo equipped guitars, soundhole pickups, electric guitars, bass guitars, keyboards etc etc. Select a program and the system EQ's itself for that particular sound source. Both main channels have TRS insert points for patching in effects. A dedicated aux send and return would have made more sense, so a single FX unit could be used on all channels.
In terms of projection and room coverage the L1 destroys conventional club systems. I had a pair of Mackie SRM450's and an SWA sub. The L1 out-performs them in every respect, and it's so easy to load in and out, there's no need to carry foldback, plus it sets up in around 2 minutes. What's not to love about it? The only thing they've missed is reverb. It's a pain having to cart around and hook up a digital reverb when they could have easily built something in.
The only problem I've encountered is right in the middle of a gig the stage was invaded by a gigantic cat which used the L1 as a sratching post. Made a mess of the paintwork. |

Location: Lebanon, TN | I've seen this thing demo'd and it is pretty awesome. A strong candidate for an alternative to the Yamaha PA and cabs that I let go a few months ago. When it was demo'd the guy used a Variax and Line 6 Pod XT floor pedal which apparently has a specific EQ setting on the L1. It sounded amazing whatever he settings he used on the Pod. eye popping. |

Location: Chehalis, Washington | I saw a guy do some incredible blues/jazz stuff a while back on an L1, playing a nice archtop guitar (I can't remember which brand) through a couple of Boss effects boards, one of which was a dedicated reverb of some sort. The sound was nothing short of incredible.
I've toyed with one here at the local GC in their acoustic room, and it definitely seems like the best bang for the buck of what's out there. Plus, it's like, Bose, dude! |

Its a great system, but I don't have one (yet).
One interesting note...Bose will tell you to have one system for each performer. That's probably best, but its not manditory. There is a local band here that plays through a single L1, fronted with a 12 channel mixer. Still sounds great. |

Location: Scotland | I did a UK tour with a trio. Guitar/vocals, me and a percussionist. We used a single L1 with 2 bass bins. Not a problem. With acoustic music the L1 can take multiple sound sources, once you have drums and electric guitars then a single L1 starts to struggle. |

Location: Columbus, OH | I plug my Ovation into a Boss TU2 tuner (my peterson strobostomp sits on my electric pedalboard), a Boss AD3 (I generally run the eq flat, feedback control off, reverb at 10 o'clock and chorus on a few tunes), Boss looping pedal so I can record in real time and play second parts or solos and a Boss DD5 delay with tap tempo. That's plugged into input 3.
My singer plugs into input one and put my vocal mic into input 2. While I have some small Alesis outboard reverb units, we honestly don't miss the reverb. Everything sounds very natural this way and the guitar reverb and light delay add some space. The vocals are crystal clear. |

Location: Kingston Ontario | I am on my second Bose system for my home. I think it is called Acousticmass. A subwoofer and two front speakers that measure about 4"x4" produce an incredible sound.
Bottom line, if it made by Bose, it doesn't get anybetter. |

Location: Scotland | Not if you use it correctly, behind and off the microphone pickup axis. The one thing that does cause problems is if the L1 is set up in a corner. |

What a weird looking setup. Never seen anything like it.
Here\'s a review for those that are just as much in the dark as me.
It says in the specs that there are 2 XLR inputs and 2 1/4" inputs. Does that mean you can plug in 2 mics and 2 guitars simultaneously?
Also there's a data I/O. Is that for the drum machine? |

The data I/O is there so the onboard EQ software can be updated. Latest versions are downloaded from the Bose website, burned to DVD and uploaded to the L1 via a DVD player. |
