He had a foot operated contraption to mimic some drums, and he played an older deep-bowl, no cutaway Legend. Sounded just great in the echo chamber of the subway station. John <>{

But I find that I can get a close enough sound and tone with a Strat and a Fender Blues Junior. Use the neck pickup and turn the tone on it low. Plus, turn the gain up into warm overdrive. Roger

Herhonner and I saw him a couple of years ago in Austin. It seems he used a different guitar on every song. Most are Les Pauls. He used Kustom amps in the day as well.

He had about six different Fender strats & telle's and the standard Array of Gibsons. And I only saw the Ric on one song, It's all a blurr now not sure what song it was anymore. Five guitarists in the front line and one strong bass player. One guy played a tennessean semi hollow all night. He looked like Elvis a little. There was so much guitar sound coming at me I could'nt tell ya what guitar sounded like what after the first 10 seconds of any intro. It was fun though. John is the same fun as when I cought him 30 or so years ago! I want Willie Nelson's drummer's job! That dude played a single snare all night... No high hat, no Bass, no cymbol,no other drums... nothing, Just him his litle stool, and that ratta-tat-tat snare he played with brushes...... and for something different I think he used a set of sticks for one of the harder rockin tunes! Man If I may say it.............. "That ain't workin, That's the way ya do it! Money for nothing and your Chicks for free" Randy

He lost the rights to all of his great numbers and was in a bitter feud with his former record label for many years. As a result, he wasn't permitted to perform any of them in public. Recently, a new owner acquired the rights to the library and, according to the source, was negotiating with Fogerty to permit him to start performing them again. Maybe it has already happened. Anybody have better details?

ANd it was Fogerty who decided not to play the songs for about 10 years until he settled with Zanz Kant Danz. Oh... thanks Cliff. Guess that's why I don't quite have his licks down. You are a much better guitar player than me. :D
