Norse(and you don't need a case for your gear, just loosen a few strings, you can comfortably fit picks, pick-up, cord, capo, and a bucket of KFC [oops there goes the diet]into the bowl, and STILL have better sound than a fender!)man1 |

Location: SoCal | Ovation positioned itself as the guitar that you plug in. So what was the point in making a guitar that sounded good unplugged? In essense, I believe that moved themselves out of the deep bowl market. |

Location: Australia | Maybe they ditched it because of the perception that the guitars big round back makes them difficult to play, they slide off your knee and all that stuff (Although I've never had any of these concerns with my deep bowl Custom Legend).
If they are superior acoustically, you'd think they'd have kept them on the Adamas series as these are the guitars they really promote as have a great acoustic tone. |

Seriously, does anybody find it interesting that Most performing players (and Ovation) push the super shallow bowl for stage work, but DiMiola, who mostly plays his Ovation on stage prefers the deep bowl? Maybe he does know something..... |

sure I bet the Q will be a deep bowl but for how long and at 5K or so it will not be in the range of everyone |

Location: SoCal | Al, I'm pretty certain (and am willing to bet real money all the way up to a quarter) that the DiMiola model has always been a deep bowl.
As for the Q, is it produced at all right now? It made one catalog about 6 years ago and was never seen again. |

it was my understanding that the demiola model although the last deep bowl production guitar would be changed to mid bowl as soon as the supply of deep ran out.
I have seen the Q many times at Namm and at the factory I don;t know when they plan to reintroduce it I suspect at the January Namm show |

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | The demiola model has always been deep bowl..If they stop production of the deep bowl im sure they would have to drop to mid bowl if there are no deep bowls available..I dont think it matters all that much to Al..When he plays ovation he uses his early original deep bowl sunburst and black custom legends..I say when he uses ovation because he uses other guitars on stage and sometimes never brings out his ovations... |

Guitar Man I'm with you, deep bowl and non cutaway is the way to go, it's all I want in Ovation (including my special order). |

Location: Scotland | I would defy anyone to tell the difference between a deepbowl cutaway & a deepbowl non-cutaway in a blindfold test. There is so little air-volume lost plus the upper bout area of the soundboard is extermely rigid & contributes little, to make cutaway vs non-cutaway a matter of practicality rather than sound, it's a non-issue.
