If you know anyone who might be interested, please let them know about it for me! Thanks so much! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=899519797

Put it on a 10 day auction and see what people are willing to spend on it. Starting the auction at $650 is intimidating for everybody except the one who really wants it. There's a beautiful blue Legend 12 string that's been up about 5 times. The seller always asks for a high opening bid. If he can snag that one buyer then he's ok. But the way to generate interest (imho) is to start low and let the bidding take the price up. I should probably just shut up. At least that's what my wife always says.

Then taking good pictures and putting them right back on auction. People buy with their eyes. [ August 13, 2002: Message edited by: Noel ]

Is it at ALL possible that you could RETURN the Elite from whence you purchased it?? Was it a reputable dealer with some kind of return policy? Even a "store credit" might garner more equity than eBay will offer.

Yeah, I bought the guitar from an official dealer (in NY), but I bought it on a "90 days, same as cash" deal (payed it off in about 10 days), and therefore there are no returns. Then I bought the elite t while the elite special was being shipped down here in its kaman box. So I never played it nor took the foam wrap off from it. (It was played in the store, but still, it's by all means brand new)... I bought the elite special for $815, no case and the elite t for about $675 with a case, so I only need about $600 to break even. If it doesn't sell this time, I'll probably take it to a dealer and maybe trade it in on a half stack or acoustic amp or something, but I really wouldn't mind to sell it! Set the reserve at the price you want to sell at.. I know it seems silly, but when folks start bidding, they end up driving the price higher sometimes than you will even think. It's the "bidding frenzy".. "I need to win" mentality. I have done this from both sides... as the seller and unfortunarly as a buyer... Although someone may get annoyed if you call it "new" as you are not a dealer...I'd say "Unplayed, still in factory packaging." That gets the point across.

I ended up spending $640 on a 1983 Country Artist cutaway that I could have had on a $400 buy it now. Damn. Of course, looking at that guitar now and realizing how much I play it, it was still a bargin.

On a whim of thinking I'd never sell it, I set the reserve at 600, so now I cant change it. Thats okay, though--I'll be happy to get that much! That way I break even, and can play my elite t (which I love) without feeling in debt!

My wife is on jury duty in the county court (this is the truth), I dropped her off yesterday, and made an illegal turn as I left the courthouse. I was immediately surrounded by 6 sheriff's patrol cars, ordered out of my car with a bullhorn, and given the required televised beating to show lack of bias (I'm not a minority). I was arraigned and demanded a jury trial, as my wife, I was sure, would save my butt. I was given a lady public defender, and sent to the court where the judge was a lady, and the prosecutor was of the gentler sex. I smiled the smile that had snared my wife, and noted that she was sending a note to the judge. Then it hit me, ALL of these women, the judge and most of the jury, were wearing the shabby clothes and long suffering expressions of wives whose husbands spend their income on hobbies such as MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, fast cars, etc. forcing them to work to pay the bills. The judge called all except me to the bench for a conference, my public defender returned and spit on me, and the jury made signs of the noose. I was immediately convicted of public degeneration, the sheriff was sent to my house to confiscate all musical paraphinalia to be auctioned on the steps of the courthouse, with the proceeds going to my wife's QVC account. The high bidders were the judge's husband, the prosecuter's boyfriend, my defender's live-in, and 11 of the juror's companion's of whatever sort. I expect to see all the equipment on Ebay shortly at highly discounted prices. The price of justice is vigilance. Joined: May 2002 Posts: 3005 Location: Las Cruces, NM | Thanks Brian My court appointed probation officer (my wife), has me connected to a lie detector that just started dinging and beeping again when I logged on. Dear, I really don't want an Ovation 12 string (ding-beep-ding-beep), Ebay is a distant memory (beep-ding-beep-ding). I am cured of this compulsive musical instrument thing and will never tell another tall tale. (zzzzzt-poing-clak-clak- shhhhhhhhh-flop-flop-flop) I think it stopped working when the chart caught on fire.

If so, I'd like to here a few of these maniacal tunes... ;) --- (Update on my guitar that's for sale: 10 bids so far--thanks a lot guys! It's at a standstill right now, but with a couple more bidders involved, I think it'll be well on its way to the reserve! Thanks for all your help!)

I just live this life, as I'm sure you all do also, and I try to tell the truth that most people avoid, because I'm retired, I don't have to dance to some employer's idea of a proper life style. Snowlock, I'll give you a song writing hint, Red River Valley, Great Speckled Bird, I Didn't Know God Made Honky Tonk Angels, It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels, and a few other country classics share the same melody, so a good story will hide an overworked melody. Last night I went to a jam session with my son and my grandson (a paratrooper at Ft Bragg on leave). My grandson was cranking his gothic Explorer through his Van Halen signiture Peavey amp, my son was pumping his modified strat through his 40 watt pignose tube amp with Russian tubes, and I was there with my Viper (which blew them away, of course} and then I plugged in my bb jr mandolin which, really sounded good and thats probably where I became the weird Mandolin player. I always advise trying anything before you buy, $199 is the price it cost them. I would buy one if I could afford it. Bailey
