I'm booked to do a solo acoustic gig at a local restaurant for the Valentine's Day dinner crowd.

I have pretty extensive repetoire, but am always open to suggestion and thought I'd throw it out here.

Any favorites?

Wichita Lineman. Maybe the best love line in any song

"And I need you more than want you, and I want you for all time"

And made famous by an Ovation endorsee.

Good one, hackr, but of course that means we now have to include nearly every Soul Asylum tune.

"Blackbird" is always a good one for an accoustic. McCartney also played an Ovation on his '76 world tour.

"you can't always get what you want" tried to convince Sue to use it as our wedding song....she was not amused.

Reminds me that we had, among others, "when I'm sixty four" at our wedding. Even has a Valentine's reference in it. Fun to sing/play and the crowd always has fun with it too.

"Used to Love Her" by Guns N Roses is a MUST!

Already on the list (Rick and I already do it at the "duo" gigs) along with "Why Don't We Get Drunk and Screw".

I'll just slow 'em down a little and finger pick 'em.

These poor people don't know what they're in for.

lol. Bob Dylan has a great tune that if slowed down and strummed lightly sounds great. If not it sounds like Bob Dylan on coke. The name of the song is "nobody 'cept you"

Hmmmm, let see...
Our band does Wonderful Tonight
These that we do might work, too:
Bob Marley's Waiting In Vain
Bob Dylan's Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You
Bonnie Raitt's I Can't Make You Love Me
And on a different love song or two:
The Band's Up On Cripple Creek
Mickey Newberry's Tell Me Baby Why You Been Gone So Long?
Which has the lovely lyrics:
Nothin' else I want to do
I guess I could get stoned
And let the past play pictures in my head
Kill a fifth of Thuderbird and try to write a sad, sad song
Tell me baby why you been gone so long...

And don't forget Bob Dylans "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight". Kris & Willie's rendition on the 30th Anniversary concert album is positively lewd!

Since Gun's and Rose's has been mentioned Patience would be good. Crash by Dave Matthews would be a good one too.

I'm not sure exactly where the cheese line is drawn, but we had Zep's "Thank You" at our wedding. It's not for everybody, but I love it.

Somebody mentioned Mickey Newberry, I always liked "She Even Woke Me Up to Say Goodby" as done by Jerry Lee Lewis.
