Johnny (Iffy) is going under the knife today at about 10am for his unfortunate accident while on duty at the Jam. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Like J-G #2 said, we want your doctor to put you back together very carefully, and we are praying for you, Johnny. (And for all the "Family Iffy," too.)
Thanks, Jim, for keeping us all in the loop.

Yes, Jim--thanks for keeping us in the loop! And Johnny, you'll know our thoughts and prayers were/are with you and your family. Lots of warm, fuzzy reading during your recovery--and looking forward to the next OFC get-together (minus the slip... )

I'm contemplating visiting the sunny south. When's the next one and how far from Sebastian Vero Beach area??? I had too much fun to wait a year....

I talked to him yesterday. He seemed in good spirits and I told him we would be praying for him.

Here's hoping they fix it better than new. It looked pretty old when you broke it, anyway.

Johnny, I didn't even know you'd been hurt. Of course, I'm wishing you the best, and you (and all the rest of this crazy crew, by the way), are always in my prayers.

"Doctor, will I be able to salsa after this?"
Reply: "Yes, you should be able to eat Mexican, or Italian, or anything you want."

Iffy - I hope everything goes smoothly... maybe Keith can send you some of the "apple juice" to help speed your recovery.

All the best,

Mike

OK, just got a call from Iffy, and he sounds like he's in great shape. Of course they have a block for pain on his leg now, so I think in a few hours he won't be sounding so good. I'll let him update soon.

The "apple juice" was pretty nasty; maybe some of the "grape juice" or "peach juice" instead? ;)
If you've got to build bone, though, I guess it's just better to drink your milk, like Mom always said.......you can always "lace" it with chocolate, or Ovaltine.

WOW! Ya'll are such a thoughtful and wonderful family. Thanx sooo much for all the prayers, well wishes, emails, calls and wise azz remarks (ya know I love 'em)!

Well I now have a plate and half a dozen screws holding this ol' turd together. The 'leg block' hasn't worn off yet, so I'm totally pain free for the time being. It feels SOOOOO good when the pain stops! From what the doc said, I gotta be sure to stay ahead of the pain protocol when the block weakens. At least my toes all point in the same direction...

I go back in two weeks to insure that no one has pillaged the hardware for scrap metal. Hopefully in three/four weeks I'll get a walking cast.

Side note: While I was napping after my return home from the jam, Patty (my bride of 39 years) thought she'd help and started to empty the U-Haul. Well, she managed to sprain her wrist and is now wearing a brace/sling. We are getting quite a few stares...

From the Mouths of Babes category:

When my eldest grandson (3 1/2) was told that Grampa Guitar broke a leg, he asked, "Can he carry it to the doctor and have it put back on?"

Well that's enough for now. I don't want 'medical' added to the 'politics' and 'religion' category...

Again, thanx to all of ya'll! Later...
