Live in Northern Texas (DFW area)?? I recently re-located to the Dallas Metro Area and need to find folks that like to play decent acoustic music... Everyone I find is into the Grunge metal... I CAN'T STAND 3 Chord songs!!!

No disrespect to anyone, but, isn't most of the music down south and S.W. basically Country and
basic Blues (Now I said most, not all) which is based on 3 or 4 chords?? Again, not judging just an obsevation from a poor smuck who plays 3-4 Chord (well , maybe a few more ;) )

BUT do you add 150% distortion and play as hard as you can attempting to break strings on every stroke?

I like more along the lines of Hybrid Picking type music... Think Alex DeGrassi or Peppino D'Agostino... Been working on their stuff for a while now... amazing how ONE guy can convince your ears there are 3-4 guitars playing

If you can play like Alex DeGrassi, my hat's off to you, sir.

Not my usual musical cup of tea, but I can certainly appreciate the technical virtuosity needed to play it.

I'd capo the 3rd fret and play it as G - E - Am7 - D - ...

Just a suggestion. Dave

I've got the same problem, although I can't come close to Alex-type stuff. Somebody could come over and do Maury's parts to my Jim Croce or I'd learn Maury's parts if I could back up somebody else's Croce.
You should be able to find someone in a market as large as DFW. I can't even get the one other Boise OFCer to respond.

Why don't you send me what you want me to learn, then next time we hang out we'll have some stuff to play?

Sounds like an idea. I'll check the tabs I have that has the second guitar part. A lot of Maury's stuff didn't stand alone, it just filled out the song, often very distinctively. I think his part on Time in a Bottle was pretty complete, though, and probably others. I've got a bunch of it running through my head right now. If I can't figure out the scanner (still), I'll mail it to you.

Sent to the 3 of you that asked... 2 of you already know you need Powertabs to read...

Sent both the original 2 guitar format on all and some "mashed-up" single guitar ones that sound like both are there

Got them and downloaded the ones I didn't have downloaded already. Turns out I was working on one of yours last night. What a small world.

Got 'em - thanks! I downloaded and installed the PowerTabs editor. Is there a standalone reader as well?

I open the Powertab editor program and they are listed there. There are a bunch of functions when you open it, most of which I don't use.

So... I think enough have them now... I'll rebuild my Web site soon enough... Once the Owner of PowerTabs finishes negotiations with the MPA we will be able to post 22K+ songs again...

The strange thing is the Publishers are the ones getting the Royalties NOT the artists that created the Music!!! Several in the Tabbing community are friendly with lesser known artists and have discovered that even though there are several books with their music in them... they receive NOTHING when the book sells... Unless they publish it and create the Tabbed work themselves...

Keep that in mind when purchasing books folks... Sometimes it's more fun to find the general Chords listed and figure out the individual notes from there... At least more fulfilling

These should keep me busy for awhile, although I need to branch out. I've become a Croce geek.

Let me know when you are ready for Peppino!!! I have one that won't kill ya... in Standard tuning... the rest have the requirement of being very decent at Finger Picking and having the ability to hit Bass Strings at off Beats

Sorry... 4Yo was banging on the KB while typing

Dammit, I don't have a reader. My TabView program expired... I guess they want me to buy it now.

I was fooling around with the editor last night - very cool! I entered a little multipart song that I've been messing around with. I like the playback feature - lets me hear how the timing of the parts that I entered sound together.
