This one is all original and yours is not.

Thanks!<<

Do you think he would sent it to the North Pole so Santa could fix her up a little?

I was thinking of emailing him and offering $2300. If he responds, I'll just ignore it. That should drive him CRAZY. Dave

I hope someone pulls the trigger and buys it. I see nothing wrong with him asking what he wants for the guitar and I applaud him for doing his part to get people to recognize what a good guitar is worth.

Why would I buy it, I already have 8, most in near mint condition, with original cases, all original parts including the final prototype and one of the first 10 completed ones. Gets rather exponential when you figure 8 x $700 or 8 x $2400 :)

In this case, I agree with Miles. 1st of all, every seller has the opportunity to value it at a high, even stratospheric level. Maybe a sale, maybe seller looks like a fool.

Usually, we have sellers selling O's at levels less than we feel it is valued. To many, Ovations are undervalued out there. Told Nils that the Pacemaker 12-string he just bought is equivalent to the Martin D-18 12 that I bought in 1970. The price today for a very good condition 1970 D-18 12 would be far higher than the Pacemaker.

However, seller's attitude is a little course but sellers get all type of email - end early? trade? will you accept $$ ?

Saw a post in archive where one of our esteemed members was commenting how the market for O's had increased by 20% over the year before - that was in 2002. I believe the market went up at least 20% in 2003. 2004 ?? Sure, some months seem to produce lower prices but several GC 12's in 2003 sold for about $750, I paid $510 12/22/03, several just closed in the last two weeks for less than $450. Maybe we have absorbed the huge inventory that was initially available to eBay.

Tony, I think we all agree. It would be great to see this guitar fetch the money it deserves. If it said F or G on it, it would sell for 2G in a heartbeat. I was just poking some fun because the guys posting comes off a little course. I think Soup Naxi is a great analogy. But truely, given what we've seen recently on ebay I think he will not get close to the asking price. Dave

I hate the price police I REALLY do.

why not just let the guy sell his guitar. If he gets it great, if not the market did not bear that amount.

would you see me paying 2K plus for a ultra gp? not in a heartbeat but I would pay twice that for a hamer, it is all relative to the situation.

Who the hell are the price police???

People here have an educated (very educated) idea of what the market is. All I've seen here is discussion as to what this guy is asking vs. what the market has historically been. Nobody's influencing the market, nobody's posting the all the ebay watchers "Don't pay this as it's way too much."

I ask again, who the hell are the price police?

Dave, I understand and agree. I thought it was a great analogy. I thought the same when I had seen the listing - especially the tenor of the listing.

And, if we can't have some fun among us...at least my life would be a little duller.

I agree, the seller's listing is a little testy....without much excuse. I get many e-mails of the type mentioned, and there is no reason to be short with anyone, just respond with what you will and won't do. I only get a touch testy when a winning bidder doesn't read all the details in the listing until AFTER the auction is over....

I avoid all sellers with attitudes if I can & would include this one in that group. It would have been a bit more tactful if he had stated the price was firm.

Sorry Dave, I see your intent now. But you must understand, that those of us who make a portion of our livelyhood from eBay, when we see "I was thinking of emailing him and offering $2300. If he responds, I'll just ignore it. That should drive him CRAZY." we want to break out firearms and go a hunt'n. I get at least 5 emails PER LISTING of this sort EVERY TIME I list a guitar on ebay. Not only is it annoying, but it's against the eBay agreement they signed, and it's SPAM. Take your pick.

If 2K for an UltraGP is reasonable, and $2500 for a Blubird is reasonable, than I think 2400 for a Breadwinner is on the high side of reasonable, but far from unreasonable. I think $700 for a breadwinner is a bargain, and $350 is giving it away. Remember eBay, although a good estimate of the market, is not the only market. It's just the cheapest market and largest market.

Everyone has their opinion, this is just mine. I hope he sells it.

Yes, we is, Andy.....er....Nils.

There is no reason for that kind of attitude in a listing, at least about the price. I myself probably sound a little anal in my listings because I put in that I want contact with the high bidder within 3 days and payment within 10. But I've found if you don't, some people will NEVER contact you, and some will take 3-4 weeks to pay. It's like they need a statement of what behavior is expected of them.

Miles - PLEASE don't hunt me. IT WAS A JOKE. Just to be safe from your trigger finger, I'm wearing camoflage (sp). I painted my clothes to look like a Custom Legend. I blend in with all the other Ovations around here. You'll never spot me ... Dave

when I get e mails like that I just delete them and never answer. Who are we to set anyone's price???
