Location: Yucaipa, California | When I play the guitar, my hands perspire quite a bit and the back of the guitar neck gets quite sticky/slow... is there some sort of silicone/teflon spray that won't mar the finish that I can use to prevent the stickiness??? |

I would suggest you send a private email to Cliff. I think he knows a lot about this subject (how to make ones hand slide easily along the neck). Also try Moody - tell him Dave still has the photo, he'll know what you mean.
But seriously, the idea of a thin cotton glove with the fingers cut off might work well. They make these things for bicycling called glove-liners, which are basically a silk-like material. I think it would work. What about talcum powder? Just curious, do you also have problems with your right hand sweating and hard to hold onto the pick? |

I'd say either a light dusting of talcum (or cornstarch) on your palm(s) might work.
You could spray your palm with some anti-persprant, but that would open a whole OTHER can of worms as far as chemicals and such on your neck finish, strings, your hands/face.
I have corrosive sweaty hands as well, and at gigs I always have a couple of small, clean white terry towels within reach to clean/dry my hands & guitar neck (see "What Do You Wipe With" thread . . )
Get a CHAMOIS!!! ;)

Asking Cliff a loaded question?.... might pass on that one!
I use fingerpicks exclusively (thumb pick and AlaskaPiks) so thr right hand isn't a problem.
In the past, I've used "FingerEase", but don't want to breathe the toxins.... I saw a Bathroom Surface product that contains Teflon... spray it on the sink/bathtub and the rings slide down the drain...
I certainly don't want to damage the guitar necks... |

This is STILL a free country (or so they tell me . . .)
Seriously, . . try the rosin bag.
You can just set it aside, pick it up every once in a while between songs . . .
Might do the trick. |

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | There was stuff I tried a while back called Fast Fret (by GHS). It was this string/neck lubricant designed to remove the squeaky noise created when gliding your hands up and down the strings, and also was supposed to preserve string life. I liked it for certain uses, like when I was recording or attempting to "shred" (poorly I might add). The fretboard was pretty slippery when I used it.
It came in a small can with cotton applicator on one end. I have no idea what it's affects would be to the gloss on the back of a neck, but it was intended for safe use on the fretboard itself.
Perhaps it would be worth checking into.

Tim, Bowlers use the little air vent to dry their hands. Pehaps a little mini-fan as part of your set up!
Also noted: high gloss neck Elite LX, semi gloss neck Pacemaker and Oiled neck CL12 all feel good and react about the same if I'm sticky-fingered.

I keep a small container of baby powder/talcum powder in my guitar case. It works great!
About rosin, just remember rosin is made to GRIP not SLIP. That is why baseball pitchers use the rosin bag. Try it if you like, just be ready to play everything you want to play in ONE position, "cause you aint goin anyplace else."
Of course there might be a song there, "The Rosin Bag Blues"

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada | Tim, try this formula: 3 parts gin to 1 part dry vermouth. Put in a shaker with ice, strain into a glass, garnish with olives or a twist. You'll be so relaxed you won't care what the audience thinks, so you won't sweat, and the bonus is, you'll think you've never sounded better. |
