I'm not crazy about the grey either, but I've never seen a limited in a 12 string.

I remember picking up a couple of limiteds in a local music store, the salesman who fancied himself a guitar officianado said " you probably would want them just for parts Al, someone took a bandsaw to them"

Laughed all the way home

Wow! Just when you think you've seen 'em all. Production must have been in single figures on these. Shame about the finish.

Can anyone confirm this was a production guitar? I have never even heard reference to a limited 12.

You know, Miles I thought of that. Maybe this was cobbled together. Certainly the bridge and saddle could have come from a Deacon or Preacher Deluxe 12. But I don't think so. That neck is not a Deacon or Preacher Deluxe neck, it's unique. A Breadwinner 12 string neck in greyburst. I think this guitar is legit.

I would guess that Ovation was using up all of their solid body parts and this was as much a production guitar as a Bredwinner Ltd 6 string was.

I can't recall ever seeing any official reference to the 6 string version, never mind this oddball.

It's a factory issue. At that time anything would have been done for an order to use up parts. Dots in the f/b shows that there was some thought to keeping the whole thing stripped down.

It's amazing what turns up I guess. Just when I thought I had one of each... there's another one. However, what looks odd to me on this is the bridge and how it is laying on top of the pickguard as you can see in the close up. But I guess as long as it all works.. no matter.

It's also one of the older bridges. I would have thought that by the time this guitar was built, the newer bridges would have been in production. Using up old parts I guess.

It's over the $1,600 mark, with half a day to go!

Maybe the guy who buys it will see this thread someday and laugh about us writing about his guitar. That's happened to me before.

I hope the guy who buys it will write something about it here 9or somehwere on the net where I can find it). It would be interesting to learn more about it.

I bet the seller got it for less than $500, maybe way less.

Nice to see at least the rare O's are finally getting some respect. I really think this site has a lot to do with it.
I never much liked the look of the Limiteds but this 12-string neck really works with the body shape...looks much more balanced.

I even like the barnburst color on this...but what do I know, I like sparkly blue guitars too...
