WHY lose a couple of bowl-backed guitars to buy yet ANOTHER box???

You got PLENTY of Martins, and that Collings (and I've played it numerous times) "out-Martin's" the best of 'em . . .

Bill;
You should've slapped a GlayneCampbell truss rod cover on it, and he'd have been all OVER it!!!

Make more money selling Martin's, due to market preconceptions.
And this IS the Ovation Fan Club.

[Hey, I wonder if I can get good deals on Ovations at the Martin Fan Club?]

I doubt it. Any Martin owner that owns an Ovation KNOWS what a tremendous value and good sounding guitar it is.

OK. No more voting necessary. Thanks for the inputs. You might want to keep your eye on the Sell/Trade section of this board for some nice stuff at reasonable prices.

So just out of curiosity are you selling a Martin or your wife? I wonder what a good wife goes for these days?

Jeez ... this always happens to us Californians. We go to the polls to vote, and find out the election has already been decided. FWIW Dave, I voted for you to get it. It's very easy to spend OPM. Outside of the Merrill (notwithstanding the worm guts), definitely the best sounding guitar there.

No, it just seems that way, when she won't tell you the price of anything in the closet.

If this means that no amount is too much, then I am putting this theory to the test.

Hey Tupp, just exactly what is that new model you're getting yourself into? I can't tell from the pic.

A 1995 CW-28 sunburst. This is one of the pre-cnc Collings(not that that means ANYTHING, but the stove knitters think it does). They made around 250-300 but only 8 sunbursts. Since they went to cnc or around s/n 4000ish they have made this a part of the line but the S-Ks say they ain't as good as the old ones.
There's a guy named David Dugan who has a whole web site devoted to this model. I'll post it if I can find it. It's a beautiful guitar, it's just that I'll play the Merrill instead and Dave needs another guitar anyway.

For the record there are 47 others that could go before any O's

I figured there were more out there. Even a frugal bachelor wouldn't be limited to just 12 guitars.

The best of all worlds:
She doesn't ask the price of what's in YOUR closet.
You don't ask the price of what's in HER closet.

Clothing does not appreciate in value so anyone with half a brain would rather play a great guitar naked than spend a mint on a dress to wear nearly never. Still, you need to make a good show to keep the peace.

After reading the story about the guitar on the web site again I can see that the the jist of what I said earlier is correct, just not the facts. Maybe I could be a politician?
Anyway, this guy is a real CW-28 homo. Interesting reading and pictures there.

This whole thread has turned really sick and "happy," not that there's anything wrong with that.
