| I own a very nice looking cream colored Ovation Breadwinner that my dad recently bought for me. It has all the original parts. The serial number is 2863. It is simply a striking guitar and I love it, but I just am not that familiar with them. Can someone please take a guess at the year this was made and anything else interesting that you might be able to disclose from the serial number? Thank you.

Here's some prescribed reading:
The Breadwinner Site
My guess is that your guitar was finished and ready to ship on September 11th, 1968. Look at the partial infomation in the reference part of this site.
If you don't see a green column to the left of the screen click the "Ovation Fan Club" link at the bottom of the page. |

It's well before my white breadwinner which is E3273 (definitely one of the later ones I believe...)

It's impossible to get exact production dates from the serial numbers. It's possible to narrow it down to earlier or later in production from certain features, but that's as close as you'll get. |
