I love being the radical with the unique Ovation design. Love the sound and play-ability. The reason I ending up finding this site is because I was looking for the value of an Ovation I purchased about 20 years ago. I now need to sell to help pay for my son's college. It's a Ovation 12 string model 1658. Great site, loaded with incredible information. Looking forward to educating myself on the Ovations I now own. Mr. Ed DeRemer Port Saint Lucie Florida

I don't know if it sold for that much, but that sounds like a fair estimate. Of course, condition matters on such things. Also the current market and phase of the Moon.

As soon as my status changes I will post some pics. I have always felt that this guitar is much better than I deserve. I am self taught and wish I had taken lessons years ago. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy playing it. While searching for information on this model, it doesn't appear much on ebay. I was stunned the price was as high as it was. I think I made a great investment. I just got another Ovation model 1617. I love playing it. It plays much better than my Ovation Matrix. The Matrix is a tank. It rarely goes out of tune. The aluminum neck is rock solid. Finding this Forum/Club will certainly get the guitar in caring capable hands that will enjoy playing it. I did not see a serial number on the inside. It appears black where the serial number usually is. Of course I didn't know where to look until I got the 1617. Enjoying the incredible knowledge that is available on this Forum/Club. Look forward to keeping up to date and increasing my Ovation knowledge.

Yours has fancier fret markers. Curlicues on the bridge and TRC. And a mustache at the sound hole. So the 1658 is a Custom Legend, and a Pacemaker is a Pacemaker. Although really... a 1658 is just a really fancy Pacemaker... they just don't call it that.

I for sure have the Custom Legend. When you said the mustache... I ran right over and opened up the case! A mustache indeed! That's exciting to know what I have! I'm not worthy!!! Thanks for the education! Mr. Ed Sunny Florida
