Location: Seattle | Is it odd that my 2010 1581 medium bowl does not have a access panel.?
Anybody know when was that change was put into production? Or why?
As I never have seen a multi hole sound board with out access, kinda thought mine was a freak
However.....
Noticed that on the Ovation Tribiute site, pics of What is described as one of the last 2014 units, does not have one.

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | In 2010, "The Roundback Roadshow" came through Portland with few new Adamii...
The new Adamas did NOT have a manhole cover.
I asked about the lack of a manhole cover and I was told that the new design would "Sound Better".
I mentioned that it would be difficult to get inside for repairs.
The response was that access was possible through the preamp hole.
Also, the claim was that you shouldn't need to get inside for anything.
I don't believe that...
I always thought that the access hole was a good idea carried-over from the aircraft industry.
I have other brands of guitars that would benefit from an access hole.

Location: Sydney, Australia | My best sounding Adamas has no manhole cover. Could be that this provides a smoother, lighter surface. I can only just get my hand inside through the preamp hole though. |

Must have been a mistake and a throwaway guitar...... |

Location: Muenster/Germany | My Adamas 1681 Woodtop and my Adamas 2087 also have no rear access, only the side-holes for the op preamp. But both are very light and great sounding (and not really cheap...)guitars. Maybe the newer bowl material was too thin or not firm enough for a great hole like on the other guitars? I miss the rear access, sometimes you may have some cable problems and it is even good for simply cleaning the guitar inside... |
