The strap button by the neck is really really loose and wobbling around.
I tried to reach in there and grab the "mollie" and hold it while I twist the screw out, but it ain't cooperating. It is either rusted in there, or glued. I cannot really get a good grip on the mollie thing, and I don't wanna break nuthin'...
There isn't really enough room to hack-saw it off.
I don't wanna just Crazy-Glue it down!
I was considering wrapping a rubber-band around it so that it don't move, but that would not Fix it.
I'd like to be able to use it some day, although I rarely stand, I'd like to be able to if I want to...
And it does vibrate a bit right now.
Any suggestions? :confused: |

Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | Dremel tool, with thin, cutoff wheel. Grind off the molly from the outside, get another one, and reinstall. If you can get at least one of the "legs" on the molly cut, you may be able to "worry" off the other two. Unless there's 4.... |

Location: 6 String Ranch | take the strap knob off
put the screw back in and tighten it down a little.
get a hammer or crowbar or some sort of pry device and pull up on the screw gently till it tightens.
Then take the screw back out and reinstall the strap button
If it doesn't tighten then resort to the above. |

I don't know about that, I don't think that I can get my generic dremel in there...
But now that you've reminded me, I guess that I could just cut the strap button off with my dremel-clone, then make a replacement.
I have buttons (which are silver, unfortunately)..... No, no... Wait...
Hey! I could just cut-off the button and [dramatic pause]...
Actually order the correct part from the Mothership! :eek:

I got the strap-button out in one piece! No dremel tool involved.
But I totally destroyed that thingie inside the guitar.
Now I can be creative. Get me a plastic wall anchor from work... Or a machine screw/nut/washer.
But I got the problem half-solved, and I saved the black Ovation button. |
