At the OFC gathering, factory tour thing I went to a couple years back, you had a uke seminar. I bought one of the 'student ukes' that you had used. It's been around the house, mostly collecting dust. I pull it out once in a while, hit a couple chords and put it back. Last week, though, our 7yo son had a "music appreciation day" at school. He wanted to take one of my guitars (not happening, kid), but quickly negotiated down to the uke (which I didn't think he was really even aware of). Since then, he has carried that damned uke around the house non-stop. If he isn't in the bathroom or outside throwing a ball, he has that thing in his hands, strumming C, C7, F, D7, G7, C, G7, C over and over. Well, to be totally honest, sometimes he tries to pick melodies out on the strings, but mostly it's strumming chords. Believe me, I'm taking my share of the credit for his musical awakening. But, I think you deserve a big "Thanks!" too. Sometimes it's easy to forget that our actions have far reaching effects...here's a positive example of that. Peace. | ||

I spend a lot of my free online time hanging out on the Heritage board. We have our second "Parsons Street Pilgrimage" coming up 31 JUL. This year we're looking at maybe doubling the number of members attending. He's "Gallerinski" now. Buddy, where the heck you been? I got nobody to turn to when they say "John did it"... In real life, I spent a couple years finishing up that 20-year BBA, which took up quite a bit of my schedule. I've been working lately with a mentor from the NABE to leverage my IT background and hospital experience into a health economics analyst type of career. Then there are the kids, the wife, the house, the yard, the...... ;) Originally posted by Gallerinski: I was looking around online and came across a "Ukulele for Kids" DVD.
