Location: East Greenville,PA | Hello everyone. I purchased a 1981 1658 CL. Really nice 12 string. I bought it about a year ago. The owner said it sat in his closet in the case. I try not to play it too often. The guitar looks excellent. I just have a question about the frets. I can see some ware. I just want to know how long they last or what should I be looking for in the future if I need to get new frets? Thanks!

Location: NW of Philadelphia | Its call a fret level and crown. It should cost around $100 (give or take $20), and if done properly shouldn't be noticable. It's well worth it. It can take a buzzing, fussy guitar and make it a wonder to play.
And play that Legend more often. It's sweet. To play them is to love them. |

Or was that just a fad that has gone by the way-side? |

Location: Bellevue, Washington | Plek is extremely expensive and I think generally when they do it they replace the frets entirely. Mike Lull up here in Bellevue quoted me $650 for a Plek on my since departed Tornado...
I loved my Tornado but would have rather spent the money sending it to JB. |

Location: East Greenville,PA | Thanks a lot for answering my question. I'm taking it to a specialist on Saturday to get it looked at. Thanks again. |
