I have a Deluxe Balladeer, on oldie, I bought it used in the 70's, probably around 1975. Pictures are in another thread awhile back and on my member page. (I can email pics also) I am at joxter@joimail.com

Anyway the finish on the guitar is amazing. The neck looks like its new, close inspection will reveal a few minor dings. It has a cracked top, was cracked when I bought it. I just had the frets filed and polished and a new bone nut and saddle installed. And I had the crack braced. Thinking about selling her but have no idea of what its worth. The guitar sounds great, has a nice low action. I played it in a band for 5 or 6 years in the late 70', early 80's, and it has a hard case. Any input would be welcome.

Joxter, I don't know about the guitar, but how much do you want for the rug?

The guitar could be worth anywhere from $400-$800.

That rug is a hot item. A Boscov special, very rare.

I guess I will track some O's on Ebay and see what I can learn. :D

What I saw on Ebay was not encouraging. Older Balladeers like mine sitting there with no bids on them. A cutaway model and a black cutaway were being bid on, that was about it.

It is not overwhelming at all. Some of the best bargains for Buyer though!

The top crack will make it really hard to realize a decent price for your unit. Unmarked units aren't getting action with opening bids at $100, and ones with finish cracks are really struggling. A real, through-the-top wood crack will be poison.

I agree. older Ovations do not bring the $$$ that older Martins seem to bring.

I think the average ebay guitar buyer doesn't know what they are missing.

Right now Good News For Us. :D

My O is cracked pretty good. I just had Ernie at Ernie's Guitar Repair brace the crack, file and polish the frets, and put a bone nut and saddle on it.

The crack never bothered me, I've had her for 30 years or so, cracked when I got her. I played for 5 or 6 years in a country rock band with a Markley pickup in her. I am amazed the finish on the neck looks like it is new.

I guess I'll just keep her.
