I bet this has never happened to Trader Jim:

You buy a guitar thinking you can flip it to help pay for something else right? But when it comes, it’s so BLOODY nice you suddenly find your conscience doing the angel/devil routine on your shoulders.

“Maybe you should keep this one eh?”

“But you need it to pay for your mandocello!”

“You know you want it…”

"But you want your 1537 back from the moethership too.”

"You still want it, don’t you?”

"But you want your 01C back from mother too don’t you?….Besides you just blew a Custom Legend past SWMBO and into your home last week, what do you think might happen if you stage another sneak attack so soon?”

"Uhhh…good point angel. Saving my soul and my neck with one trick question."

So it’s up for sale folks, and Ovation just doesn’t make them much nicer than this. A beautiful transparent burgundy finish (think ‘96C) on a booming Legend LX Contour! Man this thing is nice. The neck is straight with medium-low action. (Take out a shim and it’ll play like an electric.) The sound and feel are much like a 2005 Collector’s. Simply an awesome guitar that somehow manages to look elegant while simultaneously screaming “LOOK OVER HERE!”

Here are the obligatory specs from Ovation; 6 String Acoustic/Electric, Deep Contour Body, AA Solid Sitka Spruce Top, Scalloped LX Bracing, Bound Ebony Fretboard, Diamond Shaped fret inlays, Ebony Bridge, Inlaid Oakleaf Pattern Rosette, Nutwidth is 1 11/16", and the Tuning Machines are Ovation Gold. My flash makes the closer pictures look more red than the finish actually is. It’s a deep, deep burgundy color. Also, I apologize for the pictures, I normally photograph guitars outdoors, but I think the Norse god Thor has been keeping very close tabs on me recently. Every time I’ve picked up my camera, a thunder head comes racing up the Hudson Valley and dares me to step outside with anything less than full rain gear.

It has the much-coveted OP-Pro STUDIO pre-amp and sounds exactly like you would expect through an amp. It only has very minor cosmetic flaws: a tiny scratch near the bridge, a ding on the headstock, and some light pickscratching. That’s it! Take two steps back and it looks new.

The only other dilemma was that it came without a case. But as luck would have it, I’m replacing the old brown HSC that came with my Custom Legend anyway, so I’ll include that. It fits like a glove. The case has some old stickers on it and some slight depressions, but NO structural issues at all. The hinges and clasps work fine and the case closes tightly.

Since I’ve never owned one of these, I wasn’t sure what to charge. The suggested retail is $2299, but who pays that? I’ve found them online for $1599, so why don’t we go for almost half that? I’ll ship it in the continental U.S. for $999 or OBO. Overseas talk to me about shipping first. I prefer money order or Paypal (+3% fee).

I’d love to move this one quick as I have a couple of other models (completely different though) coming that will need to move as well. So get some offers coming. I’m really motivated to pass this one on. (Before my will power fades.)

I took a shim out and this guitar plays perfect. Its a real treat cause my old tak has been harder to play of late. Its a real gem and I got a great deal, practically its a brand new guitar. Patch was a gentleman and true to his word, a real pleasure. I've got 8 shows over the next 10 days , so Patch went out of his way to rush it to me. I'm looking forward to tomorrow night!

Told ya you'd probably want to pull a shim. I bet it plays faster than an electric now.

Just got back from my first gig with my new Legend. Holy S**t this guitar is a dream! I got the studio pro set up just right and this guitar sounds incredible. I had the studio in my 12 string but I think the op pro is better suited.
The colour tuns almost cranberry in stage lights and is the most gorgeous colour I've ever seen on a guitar.Patch is right , it subtly screams look at me. Thanks again Patch
