just one of the many copies of ovations that are out there on the market. they just give the company a bad name since people misrepresent them as being real ovations.

My question is, that back look very Ovation like, could somebody be using old Ovation equipment or getting backs somehow?

Although I don't have all of the pictures from Winter NAMM 2003 ready, and I don't like putting pictures in posts, this one seems most appropriate to post immediately.

For those who have seen a "Q", this isn't one. But Al and I almost had a heart attack when we saw it. Yes, your eyes are not blurry. This is a 5 string, totally graphite Bass. The white sticker sais... (hope you are sitting down for this).. MSRP 12,895. Yes folks that = $12,895.00. I do not know the manufacturer.

For those who have not seen the "Q" yet..

Sorry for the poor picture, but it was rotating in a glass case.

Enjoy

There are several Ovation type guitars out on the market. One dealer I spoke to said Ovation gets a cut of every one that's made, but I don't know if that's true. I had a Dillion that was an Ovation type and it was a pretty good guitar for the price (which is about the same as an Applause).

Do we have any Bass players on the board that can ID the above 5 string. Even in the unedited original picture the flash reflected on the name and it is not legible.

Miles, If I remember correctly this was on a stand for CNC & CAD/CAM gear for luthiers, they were also displaying quite a few instruments by small-shop makers. Chances are it's a one-off or a prototype. I also have a picture but like yours the name isn't legible.
