I understand they are lighter (Ovations indeed used to be quite heavy - compared to my Taylors it's almost twice as heavy!) and I understand they applied scalloped X-bracings too now? A bit more traditional? What's your recommendation? Should I go out and check a few out at thr risk of buying myself YET another guitar? Picker.

The only LXs I've found that I really LIKE are the 1771LX Balladeer and the Elite T. I've not found any Legend or Elite LX that I prefer over my non-LX 1777 Legend. So go to it..... Roger

I went to the local music store and picked out a song on the Elite and was amazed by the sound. Sounded as good as any acoustic I have heard from Martin to Taylor. I liked it so much I bought one two days later at a deal I believe, $1049 with hard case and free shipping! Got the black cherry burst and can't wait until it arrives. Have yet to hear it plugged..............but if it is anything like unplugged then I can't wait.

If it makes you feel any better, my next guitar will make #44.... and probably #5 Ovation. Some of my friends think I'm obsessed with guitars. Ya think? Bill (Beatlejuice)

Am I the only one that hears Van Halen playing "I'm your Ice Cream Man" in the background? I was nearly GAS free for almost a week after getting a CL 12. It doesn't last long. I gots an Elite LX and it is wonderful. Got some older O's too. Many flavors, many colors.

Some of my friends think I'm obsessed with guitars. Ya think? Bill (Beatlejuice) Forty-four guitars? Wow, I'll have to tell my wife she should stop complaining. I only have 16! Mind you, there is a shadow side about having too many guitars though. Guitars are like women - too many and they don't get the attention they deserve. "So what?" I hear you think. See, the point is that it takes a while to get to know your guitar well and really squeeze it to the max. When I play my Taylor after a week of Custom Legending it sounds hollow and muddy, not solid and well-defined like the Custom Legend. But after a few hours / days it passes, and it starts to sing, with a long, bright sustain that the CusLeg lacks. It happens because I just play it slightly differently than I played the other guitar. This is a subtle process though, and it takes a while to adapt to another guitar if you really want to get everything out. So, sometimes I envy people that have just one guitar and do everything with it. It must be so much simpler, and you REALLY know your instrument. Picker.
