Location: Minnesota | I would like to get a battery powered amp, I like the size of the pignose 7-100, but the pignose 20 has more features. I have a Ovation cs-247. Have any of you out there used either of these amps? If so can they put out a clean enough sound? I just want enough volume to be heard in my small country church. Thanks, Pegleg |

Location: Reno, NV | Have you compared it to the Roland Micro Cube? I know pretty much nothing about amps, however, from the reviews I have read on GC, MF, etc.. It looks to be a great amp. It also has alot of features the Pignose doesn't, However, it is almost 2x the price. :-( |

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | Yes, they put out a clean sound but they are "tuned" for electric guitars, not an acoustic/electric. It'll work but it won't sound right.
What I recommend, for a church situation, is a yamaha ms101. It's a basically a portable PA, and can be used with voice as well as keyboards. You can get one of these beauties new for $140, maybe less. Much better for acoustic. 10W, with 30W power consumption. It will be plenty loud.
As you know, for every doubling of an amps wattage, you only get 3 more decibels. So the difference between 10W and 20W is negligible. I believe the MS101 puts out 100db, which is as loud as a disco or a jack hammer at 10 feet.
The MS101 also is extremely portable. Really can't lose. Plus later on when you buy a sans amp direct box, or a yamaha acoustic magicstomp, you'll look like a pro.
For three times the price you can get one of those Fender Acoustisonics, but you don't need it.
Also, if you want to play your tele thru it you can, but it won't sound right. But ... if you put an effects processor in front of it, like an alesis mixer or a yamaha magic stomp it will sound perfect. You can't go the other way though, that is, put an effects box in front of your celeb going into the pignose. It will always have an "electric" sound.

Awesome little amp that can run on batteries and has a shoulder strap along with a boatload of nice effects.
BLows the Pignose away (which I sold when I got the DA5). |

Location: Tidal Mudflats of Virginia | My vote is still for the Roland Microcube. Set to acoustic and with a little chorus thrown in, it sings and the batteries last a long time. I love it paired up with my Ute.

Location: Carle Place, NY | Forget about a Pignose. I have the original 7-100. It's designed to be played at full volume where it gets some nice distortion. It's definitely not made for acoustic sound in a church. |
