I take it on advise that the Taylor BBS, always touted as "unofficial" has folded, because Taylor pulled its support due to anti-Taylor content, specifically the ES system Taylor is pushing recently.

Knowing nothing about the ES system, I thought I'd look it up. The following is a quote from the Taylor board, used under Fair-Use Doctrine.

"..... What are the limits of current amplified acoustic technology?

"For the past 30 years, the vast majority of acoustic pickups have used a source known as piezo crystal. Piezo is a 'square law' device, meaning that if you double your attack, the output of the pickup quadruples, and so on. The harder you play, the worse it sounds. Piezos require a preamp just to function, both to match the high impedance levels and to correct the undesirable native sound that the pickup itself produces. In the end, however, you still hear the voice of the piezo crystal as well as the distortion it produces when you play hard....."

All I can say is Bob, you've missed the boat on the ES so it seems, so maybe your judgement of the piezo system is nearsighted, since it works, and works well.

I can tell you a funny story about playing live with a friend of mine a couple weeks ago. We were both running through the same system, and he starts to crack. His impedence is on the verge of overwhelming the system. I unplug him and give him my line which is direct, and take his monitor line. Problem solved. He is playing a Taylor 914. I'm playing my (Book) 96 Elite 30th Anniversary. Taylors are nice, but plug em in side by side, and Ovation kicks ass every time!! Thank You, I'm off my box now.

Glenn :p :p

Glen, when your right, you are right! Seems Charlie and Bill and Co. must've known what they were doing!

I got to plug in my (new) 1615 Pacemaker tonight at practice. Ended up with the one knobber set at about 1-1/2.

What is a good Equalizer to either set on my belt or the floor?

Nils! Thats terrible, even as a joke, how could you suggest that!

I mean, why use a sub-caliber when the .45's are so much more effective.

Thanks guys, I would rather be known for the caliber of my playing!

BTW - It' not the bore that counts but the load behind it.

Next time the guy shows up with the Taylor, you can say, "Are you feelin' lucky, punk?"
