| I guess everyone has some sort of program with their camera but I just use the sizing option when I save my image to a JPEG file??? Look at the options on the bar before you click the Save to File option.... I think if you save it as "Best for the Web" this will do it just fine. You can experiment with 50% or 75% etc. etc.
Miles can help if this does not work. He doesn't have anything else to do anyway.

Location: Tennessee | I take the hi-res pics, and then open them in photo editor and "resize" them to 600 pixel height. Usually brings a 1 meg picture down to about 75K. |

Location: Phoenix, AZ | Sorry, but right now I'm too lazy to tell you exactly where to find the additional program, but Microsoft has photo resizing program available for free download. It was left out of XP (probably because they wanted to keep the size down), but you can download it from Windows site. Then, it asks you what size you want to reduce the file to. Real simple.
If you can't find it at Windows site, then check the Google groups XP discussion (run a search), and some the MS VIPs will give you the step by step solution.
BTW, it reduces the file size but not the resolution quality. |

You should always shoot at the highest setting then either duplicate the file or do a "save as" for the way the photo is to be used. (typically 500-700 pixels on the long side at a res of 72-100.) That way should you want or need a bigger file you always have it. NEVER manipulate the original raw image. Archive raw pics to CD or DVD. There are many free and inexpensive photo editing programs out there. I use Photoshop CS but photography is my profession. You can also do some color correcting within the program if needed. Hope this helps without being to confusing. |

Location: Orlando, Florida | What kind of software are you using? If you're using Photoshop, or even something like Photoshop Elements, you have a lot of control of the size and save format. JPEG is about the best, but GIF also works really well, and downloads fast.
