So, now I'm the proud owner of T28's 5858 (and a beauty it is) - it's my first Ovation 12 string. I'm looking for a bit of insight.

Do you need to tune your 12's down a 1/2 step to ease the tension - or does it really matter?

Any concern with bowing behind the bridge?

Use light gauge (.010 - .047) strings and you'll have no problems from keeping the guitar at concert pitch.

IMHO Elixir Nanowebs work great.

I've got an Applause 12 string that goes months or sometimes years without being played. I put a set of Adamas lights on it years ago and it stays in tune surprisingly well. If an Applause can do that, I can't imagine you couldn't leave your Ovation tuned to concert pitch.

No worries MrDano.....I downtuned the guitar for shipping purposes only. "O"s are strong enough to keep them tuned to concert pitch without any problems.

Just one more reason that Ovation 12 strings are the best on the market.

OH.....and you should rename the thread.

It is no longer T28s 58 so it should read....

MrDano's 58 (formerly owned and operated by T28) :D

Well I have a different story. I bought an older Glen Campbell 12 string from one of our members several months ago and unfortunatly it came rather "cupped" behind the bridge. It still sounds very nice but it does have issues from the tension of the strings over time...
