I went into a store the other day and they had a new elite standard it didnt sound or play any better than my old balladeer. In fact my balladeer sounded a little better unpluged. I also tried a Adams but it was out of my price range I know they make a legend that is just alittle more than the elite but the store didnt have any. In fact they didnt have any thing other than some celebritys what else does ovation make that in your guys opinion would be a big jump in sound from my old balladeer? I wonder if ovation is building guitars like they used to or the new ones aint like the old ones in tone quality. at any rate let me know what you all think thanks

Check it out in the For Sale section. He just listed it on ebay but would probably pull the auction if you were serious about buying it. Great guitar at an awesome price!

Joined: July 2005 Posts: 55 Location: lewisburg ohio | thanks for the responces so far. I checked out the adamas II it looks like the new on I played how ever he says it had a list price for $2399 in the mid 80s according to the price list it was more like $1699 he also says its 1681-8 what is a -8 I never hears of a -8 I dont know witch adams I played at that store but it was new at$1695 I would not have given that much for it I have played many guitars in the last two months and for that price or a little les I can buy a 314 Taylor that sounds much better than that adamas. any how $1600 is out of my price range so the new adams is out and so are the taylors unless i find a used one Id rerally like to stay around $800. I even got fired up about all the good reports on seagull guitars so I went and played some man what a dissapointment their $400 wernt bad for the price but their artist line wasnt any better and the action was way to high on all of them.My old balladeer would kick them in the ass and take names later. Ive tried alverez yari not bad but not worth the price many gibsons but again not worth the price. a couple of martins in the 1000 to 1400 price range again not worth it the only one in my opinion thats not bad for the price and sounds better than my ovation and priced right was a tacoma chief and another tacome but i cant remember the name. Problem is they are too ugly so my quest continues thanks

The -8 designates the color blue. Not sure which model you might have played but the 1681 series is a kick ass guitar that sounds terrific!
