My 1983 Elite 1537 has developed a problem; the rosette on the top sound hole has separated at the largest hole. Any advice on the repair? Is it something that can be fixed by clamping and gluing the wood? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Yes, I imagine that repair could be affected with a small clamp through one of the surrounding epaulet holes. Where is the wood lifting, referencing this image?

The wood is lifting at the bottom of the largest soundhole (middle) in the epaulet, where the two different wood tones come together. Upon closer inspection, the crack is all the way through the top. Thanks for your help.

I clamped it together with no glue, and everything comes back together nicely. Is there a specific glue that you would recommend?

A bit off topic.. but if anyone knows.. did all the 1537's come with an upside down label? From the ones I see they did (in comparison to the 1868's that were right side up).

Dunno about the upside-down label issue. As to glue, I think a spot of Titebond & some clamping should accomplish a salutary outcome.

Yes.... Real 1537 have an "upside-down" label.
It is right-side-up when looking from the players position.
I once had a 1537 with a "right-side-up" label, but it had been Rebuilt at the factory.
(That 1537 also had White Binding... as opposed to Wood Binding... New top and bowl)
I don't know what year that was... But... If your 1537 was made in 1983, the label with be "upside-down".
I currently own a 1537 that was rebuilt at the factory... But this one still has the original bowl and top.
Whoever sent it to the factory told them to Keep the original 1983 wood top...
But mine has Adamas Epaulets. The label is still "upside-down".

I hope that this is helpful.
