Does anyone know what colour (name) was used for the red Adamas 1187-247, I need it for the colouring of an armrest to make it more or less invisible..black was easier.

Take the Adamas to a big box Paint or Hardware store.
Lowe's or Home Depot will "color match" and mix you a gallon of custom paint.

I am helping Now!

Detlef it looks like you've added a 47RI to your collection congratulations they are amazing guitars,as far as the name of the color Beal might know but with the heavy goldflake mixed in with the red it will be hard to match, are you trying to match the red of the outer edge or are you going to do a burst like the guitar has???.

@OMA: Thank you, I tried to find the colour with a clour chart but I only have RAL colours.

@2wheeldrummer: You´re right, the 1187 is new, I must say it´s not easy to surprise me but this guitar is still way beyond all my other Ovations. (I had to give away my 12string Adamas ssb for it which was a serious decision).

I wanted to add an armrest because like all ADamas guitars this one also has a very sensitive top and it gets damped when you have contact with your arm when played. I added an armrest on my 2008 collector and tried to make it invisible with carvings and colours:

And that´s what I want to try with the 1187, too.

Wow, nice job on the armrest for the 08 Collectors. How many hours did that take?

The armrest was made by the luthier Ernie Rissmann, I only had to do the carvings and the colours. The carvings are easy to make when you have a good small drill, took one hour, then I filled them with gold laquer and the rest with black ( to which I added some brass filing). For the 1187 I already got some gold filing, should look better. I will check the red colour today carefully with my new colour chart and will post results here.
The black armrest looked really nice, but when I had to do some work on the guitar it suddenly fell down my workbench and the armrest was broken in pieces. The guitar had nothing, not a scratch, well built! I have to make a new one...
