On inspection of my anxiously awaited "pristine" Legend LX, I find no sound from the output jack. So far, I have changed the battery (no difference), put the pre-amp from my 6778LX in it (no change), and put the pre-amp from the 1777LX In the 6778LX (works fine), so I assume the issue is either with the transducer or the jack.

My question is, since the tuner function works fine, shouldn't that mean that the transducer is okay? It seems logical to me that leaves the jack as the culprit, but since I'm new to all things Ovation, I thought I'd ask here, while awaiting a response from the seller.

Thanks

Did you look to be sure that the wire from the jack is connected to the can?

I loosened the strings enough to reach in and confirmed that it is. Also, I plugged headphones into the output jack... No sound, but if I push the preamp release button, I get a "pop" in the left speaker, with the same in the right on re-insertion, so I wonder if the can itself is bad.

Thanks for the response!

Unless you have a Headphone/amplifier system, you cannot just plug headphones into the output jack.
The preamp doesn't put out power that way.
There is enough power to give you the "pop" when the plug hits the contacts in the jack... but that is it.
That could also just be static electricity from the system.

If both OP-Pro preamps work in the 6778LX, it ain't the preamp.

If the tuner works, the connection form the bridge works.

So it might be the jack or the can.
But the can works enough the tuner to work, it must be the jack.
The tuner works enough for you to actually tune the guitar, right?

Yes, the tuner functions normally.

Actually, my headphones are high enough impedance that a pickup will drive the left speaker. It isn't practice quality by any means, but it does have enough output to let you know the electrical connection is sound.

Thanks again for your help on this.

Check the jack connections. Sometimes the jack gets spun and rips a wire loose.
Failing that, swap the can from the 6778. It's not that big a deal to pull it. That should give you a definitive answer.

Sometimes there is a little circuit board at the jack. That may be your culprit. I can't recall if that's only there when you also have an XLR-out or not. Anyway, one more thing to check.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to hold off looking further until I get a response from the seller.
