Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | OK... I installed a battery box on my previous 1537, after having the battery die in the middle of a gig. I need to put one om my current guitar, and was wondering if anyone had any particular recommendations? I'd like a dual one, where one side could house a second, backup battery. I looked at the Gotoh dual, but it appears that both sides are hooked up. ??? |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I would think that a Fresh battery should last through a gig.
Also, if you are using the standard "external" Ovation-style slide-in battery box you could just get another battery holder and keep it in your pocket. Ready to pop-out the old - install the new in seconds.

Location: Jet City | The only dual systems I've seen are 18v and require both batteries. Here's a thought, check the strength before your gig...

My 1537 has the rear hole entry only(OK...no jokes here) and even though I do unplug the guitar when not playing, it spends a lot of time plugged in and playing... sometimes a couple hours straight. I have no problem with the idea of putting a fresh battery in when needed, but it is a pain in the rear going through the bowl hole. I just want to install an outside access compartment, but I also would like a second compartment to keep my back-up battery in(for a quick change over). I saw the 18 volt types, but that obviously wont work. Perhaps I just need to install two separate compartments on the top side, where the battery retaining screw is. Damon... That looks like a cool little toy to have regardless (: ...Thanks for the info. |

Location: Utah | The thought of the surgery needed to install one of those battery boxes in a 1537 makes me a bit faint!
The Gotoh dual battery box looks like you could snip two wires off of one side to detach it electrically. You could then store your spare battery on that side and just swap them when needed.
Another option is just use the 2 battery box. It will give you twice the life of one single battery. Yeah, when the batteries start to die they will die together, so this option doesn't provide for a spare.
Yet another option is to attach a small box to your strap which carries a spare battery or 2. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | Thanks... I decided to get the battery checker first.(it just came via ups) I'm still gonna but a box in... I've done it before with my Dremmel and it was fairly easy. I really like the idea of having a spare right next to the quick change box. It's a real pain to have to stop and go through the current process. |

Why not use a double box and wire in a switch so you can just flip over to the new battery without touching them?
